What does one wear to a winter wedding?

One of my close friends is getting married at the very end of November. I've only been to summer weddings and unsure of what to wear to a winter one, what's the colour palette?

Bridesmaids are wearing grey so that's out. Are black tights ok? Do I need a pretty coat and a dress?

I'm size 14, apple shape, 5ft6, long brown hair and fairly pale skin. Don't like my arms so would ideally like sleeves/something I can pair with a jacket. Budget flexible but probably not more than £300. I would welcome any ideas!

It depends on whether the wedding is indoors, outdoors, at the same venue, or whether you need to walk between venues.

If it's indoors, then you just wear a nice dress, a fascinator (optional) and decent shoes. You don't need to worry about being cold, but could bring a wrap if you tend to get cold easily. If you need to walk between venues, just bring a decent coat. You won't be wearing it for long, so it doesn't make sense to splash out on a new one (especially since coat's aren't cheap).

Wear whatever colour suits you. If you want to wear something that won't clash with the wedding colours, you could ask the bride what they are, but be careful of not trying to look like a member of the bridal party.

I went to a winter wedding, wore a brown velvet jacket and long skirt, with a gold top. The brown velvet had gold embroidery on it too. From Jacques Vert, I think (it was a while ago!)

We've been to several winter weddings and at each I've made sure that I've paid as much attention to my coat as my dress. Photographers generally still like to try and get pictures outside because of the natural light and there is nothing worse than freezing your arse off standing around. Dress wise I've gone for deeper or brighter colours (one dress I wore had long sleeves) but to be honest once you've had a few drinks over the wedding breakfast / speeches etc you probably won't feel the cold so much or be required to go outside so you can get away with pretty much any style of dress.

I had a winter wedding and everyone looked fab! Lots of fake fur and velvet and lovely tailored coats.

I am going to a wedding in Nov,I am wearing a red midi lenght dress with a three quarter lenght black dress coat, black shoes (nude tights) and a beaded bag and headband.
I also wore it for a January wedding last year but it was somewhere hot so with sandals and a different belt.
I much prefer dressing for a winter wedding tbh.
