Im thinking of investing in a lands end winter coat. Does anyone have one? Im abit worried about ordering without actually seeing the coats its self. Are they worth the money?

I have a down filled one that is very warm but also very light and doesn't give the Michelin Man look! Their customer service was spot on too when I had an issue with the delivery company.

lordnoobson · 16/09/2014 17:13

they are HUGE so size right down. for me a S was ok - am a 12 - 14

i prefer my north face one which is warmer, yet more $$

I got a mac last year, the quality is excellent.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/09/2014 18:59

Are they American sizes (I remember buying a fleece blazer years back, it was gorgeous)

Had an email from Landsend today announcing 24% off everything for 24 hours!

Code is 24HR24PC - best be quick!

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/09/2014 19:06

Should have said they are american sizes and they are really good about returns.

RaisingSteam · 16/09/2014 19:12

What are you thinking of getting?

I have the Squall parka. It is the business for watching football and cold walks. It has well thought out hood, pockets etc and is totally waterproof. OK my mum might choose to wear it too (albeit in a nice pastel not black) but you can't have everything! There are more stylish coats but I think it's really good quality for the money, IIRC it was about £75 in the sale.

Molldog0191 · 16/09/2014 20:19

I was thinking about the down parka, its £170. Im normally a size 18 so was thinking of going for the large.

I have a grey down parka and it's fantastic.I got it in a sale but it's been worth every penny.Totally blocks out cold and wind.Belted too so it doesn't look bulky.

MsBug · 16/09/2014 20:38

I got a black coat from there last winter and it was great for being warm and waterproof. I originally ordered it in a different colour - a dark red which looked nice on the website but in real life looked a bit brighter and like something my mum would wear. I returned it and got the black one instead which I think looks fine - I wouldn't wear it for a fashion show but it's fine for work on a cold wet day

mathanxiety · 16/09/2014 20:41

Great quality and gets the job done. DD1 bought herself a 3/4 length down-filled dark blue parka with a furry hood a few years ago and loves it to bits.

Molldog0191 · 16/09/2014 20:41

Whats sizing like ladies

lordnoobson · 16/09/2014 21:13

Rtf. Huge

dreamingofsun · 16/09/2014 21:38

i have several fleeces, several down ones and several short and long mac typess. can you tell i spend my winter dog walking. gardening and watching football matches. I'm 14 and have a medium. i think there's an area where they explain the sizing, if not the staff are really helpful.

Basically the quality is very good. i've had a problem with one zip, which i imagine i could return, but it was so cheap that i live with it. they have lots of extra pockets/zips/toggles etc. very hard working coats, maybe not the most trendy, but thats not why you would buy them

i confess i always buy in the sales. you have to pay return postage - which would be my only complaint, well that and not looking trendy, but then i'd rather be warm and dry

Molldog0191 · 17/09/2014 07:48

Thank you so much ladies for all your help

They've got a new offer on - 20% off everything.

Code FANCY20

MrsEboJones76 · 21/09/2014 11:25

I bought a dark green down parka from them a couple of years ago and it has been worth every penny.
I'm currently selling it on ebay (hope I am allowed to say that!) as I fancy a navy blue coat this year. Defintely considering another lands end.

Celeriacacaca · 21/09/2014 11:32

I got a chocolate brown down coat - knee length. It's fantastic. Sizing comes up larger so I got a small. It's toasty warm and in fact, last winter, didn't get an outing at all. I bought it on discount and it was a reasonable price.

DarkBlueEyes · 22/09/2014 19:59

I have several. We'll just gloss over how many. They are excellent. I AMA size 12 and 168cm tall and order a S which is perfect. My kids have the ski jackets and they are very very good.

helzapoppin2 · 22/09/2014 21:07

Maybe I'm huge, but I don't find their sizing that generous. I'm an 18/20 and in order to get one I could fit a sweater under, I went up to plus size 1X. Also, the first one I had leaked feathers, but they offer a lifetime guarantee so I got my money back, but reordered a different one which doesnt. Good as I wore it all last winter. Really feel the cold!

Hoppinggreen · 22/09/2014 22:08

My zip broke after 2 years and they replaced the coat straight away, it was actually just over 2 years which I think is the cut off but they did it anyway.
Really good customer service all round

321zerobaby · 23/09/2014 09:55

All the codes seem to have expired unfortunately, any new ones around?

Sipsmith · 23/09/2014 13:10

I have one like this. It's bloody lovely when it's cold, very toasty. I'm quite tall and it keep my bum warm Grin
