Non low-rise skinnies

Hello oh wise ones...
my 15yo DD, who hates clothes shopping wants some skinnies -preferably black or coloured not denim blue - which rise to the waist. She's 5'1 so needs short length, I think size 10 but well-muscled legs and apple-ish shape so not ultra skinny - but she likes them tight at the ankles.

We've got normal selection of high-street stores, Debenhams and a Gap outlet available (but not all in the same place).

Where would be the best bet do you think?

She sounds a similar shape to my DD (though DD is a bit taller) - we tried on lots the other day! Found some good ones in Zara - you can always take them up a bit if too long. Hope that helps.

New look do high waisted skinnies?

TheFillyjonk · 14/09/2014 20:39

Topshop Leigh are not high-waisted, per se, but sit at a good belly button-ish height. That's if she is short of torso (I am ridiculously so). They are lovely, stretchy skinnies and not as obviously high-waisted, if you know what I mean.

Tesco! Not fashionable but v good selection of shapes.

TranquilityofSolitude · 14/09/2014 20:42

My DD is 16 and recently got some new skinny jeans from H & M. They were called 'shaping' skinnies and they fit really well. She went back to get another pair and they were on offer so she got 2 more pairs. She normally hates shopping for jeans so this was quite an event!

LadyTubbington · 14/09/2014 20:42

Topshop Joni jeans are amazing and do exactly what your dd is asking for, they do petite length as well

Dorothy Perkins Bailey jeans

I find these a great fit, and very good value for money.

AnyFucker · 14/09/2014 20:47

Top Shop Joni

Perfect high rise skinny jeans. Several colour choices.

SorrelForbes · 14/09/2014 20:55

Gap High rise skinniest come in a short length.

My 17 year old dd wears the M&S 5 pocket 'jeggings' which are actually just skinny jeans. They are almost half the price of the Topshop ones (although I do like the TS ones too).

ErrolTheDragon · 06/10/2014 20:54

Sorry I forgot to say Thanks for the suggestions - as it turned out, first place we went was M&S and their short length black skinnies were perfect. She's not bothered about labels, thank goodness! But thanks for the other ideas - esp the top shop, I'd like to get her some other colour ones for xmas.

I live in M&S jeggins and need some more.

DD(16) has some Top shop crazy bleached pattern jeans, which are also a sensible waist hight, but they were far more £ than M&S.

Next also sometimes have jeans cut for normal shaped people.

I have a looooong body, and the Dotty P Brookes are fab. (Proper high rise)

HappyGirlNow · 07/10/2014 07:54
