I think somewhere like Pinterest might be your best first port of call. You've reminded me of the charming old rhyme my future mil sent me after she first clapped eyes on my (red) wedding dress GrinConfused

Married in White, you have chosen right
Married in Grey, you will go far away,
Married in Black, you will wish yourself back,
Married in Red, you will wish yourself dead,
Married in Green, ashamed to be seen,
Married in Blue, you will always be true,
Married in Pearl, you will live in a whirl,
Married in Yellow, ashamed of your fellow,
Married in Brown, you will live in the town,
Married in Pink, your spirit will sink.

this is pretty damned lovely
this is rather nice too
Ghost have some beautiful dresses but their green is a pastel.

noideawottoget · 13/09/2014 14:00

i dont expect any of our lot will mind at all what colour i wear. not good with pastel though and its likely to be a christmas wedding so dark green, red and gold colours.

Something like this delicate gold shawl would be lovely with that first biba dress.

Lucked · 13/09/2014 14:08

Do you still want a traditional wedding style. I would look at the good bridesmaids dress designers as you can get any style and any colour for a couple of hundred pounds. Dressy, jasmine and Ronald Joyce spring to mind.

Lots of green maxis out there but they aren't very structured.

noideawottoget · 13/09/2014 19:11

traditional ish. ballgown style i think. dark green, must have straps as i dont do strapless.

OP posts:
Ujjayi · 13/09/2014 19:18

You say not strapless...but would you consider an asymmetric one-shoulder, draped type design (think "greek goddess" style)?

Or are you after something quite formal and structured? (boned bodice and full skirt)?

Ujjayi · 13/09/2014 19:37

MrsLettuce that gold shawl is divine. Absolutely gorgeous. I have no "need" for it but I want it!

Available in "emerald" but shown here in magenta.

50s style (love that shade of green).

30s style

vintage and stunning

bluewisteria · 13/09/2014 19:45

Try googling 'ghost giselle dress green', totally stunning, not budget breaking. Trad ballgown style, not sleeveless. Sorry I can't post a link, on phone

bluewisteria · 13/09/2014 19:48

Sorry try emerald instead of green if you want a deeper colour

tethersend · 13/09/2014 20:08

Any good?

Rosa · 13/09/2014 20:25

I put in green ballgown into Google and came up with loads of dresses mainly from the USA there are some princess ballgown styles some with bolero wraps. Not all are to my taste but you might get a few ideas. There were also lots under green wedding dress as well.

Ujjayi · 13/09/2014 20:43

Tethers - that dress is a copy of the one Keira Knightly wore in Atonement. Gorgeous.

noideawottoget · 13/09/2014 21:12

i should also point out that i am over 30, 5 foot 8 and a size 14 ish

lisaloulou84 · 13/09/2014 21:28

Definitely Pinterest! Look up a designer called Elie Saab, they do wedding dresses but also other amazing gowns in all shades. Totally unaffordable but good inspiration

Ujjayi · 13/09/2014 21:59

noideawottoget are any of the suggestions coming close to what you are looking for?

tethersend · 13/09/2014 22:12

sold out, but on the right track?

noideawottoget · 13/09/2014 22:32

the first link, and the 50's style are probably the closest. both a little plain but are the right colour and close to the right cut. i dont want to spend a fortune either, preferably under £100. will do some links to ones i have seen
