bra help. . . m and s lady actually laughed at me

Hi there, I read the posts on correct bra fitting. I'm 31 and 38. Off I went to m and s, delighted with myself. Only to be sneered at. When the door dragon noticed I had a 32 Fs in hand, she actually put her arm out and said, where are you going with those, you're at least a 36C. i thanked her and said I had been given good advise and knew what I was doing. She sneered at me, and said you don't have a clue. Then have me a fake smile. Seriously?

So, more important than her bad attitude. . Am I trying. The right size. I did all the scoping but there was still a lot of unattractive under arm fat. I'm squishy of torso so tthere's going to be fat. i left without buying it. . . Though pretended to dragon lady that I was.

Any tips for me please?

This is a really good website for estimating your size - put in your measurements and it'll tell you what you are - it's pretty close to accurate.

www.peachesandcream.ie is what you want! They're on Dawson Street in Dublin. The fitters there are so good they can almost tell you your proper size just by looking.

Lizardc · 12/09/2014 09:21

M&S are useless on bra sizes and consistently get it wrong. Try Bravissimo or Rigby and Pellar, if you have one near you.

JustLikeHeaven · 12/09/2014 09:26

Thanks guys, I'll try peaches and cream.

Can you go to Bravissimo if you have incredibly small breasts?

Does anyone know where to go in York?

MsBug · 12/09/2014 09:28

Are there any websites with free delivery and returns where you could just buy a few sizes and send the ones which don't fit back?

when my bra size changes i go to bravissimo to get measured, buy one, then go online and buy couple more for much cheaper.

SunshineOutdoors · 12/09/2014 09:29

I'm 29 33

SunshineOutdoors · 12/09/2014 09:29

I do have one 30C bra. Can anyone tell me if that sounds about right?

MsBug · 12/09/2014 09:30

Oh yeah and i hate m&s with a passion as i spent my 20s wearing horribly uncomfortable and unflattering 38b bras thanks to their 'fitting' service, now i am in a comfortable and flattering 30ff thanks to bravissimo!

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/09/2014 09:31

28D/DD Sunshine.

SunshineOutdoors · 12/09/2014 09:32

That site linked above says 28DD??? Sorry to hijack thread I'm just clueless after two close pregnancies and breastfeeding I've no idea what I've been left with (not much)

SunshineOutdoors · 12/09/2014 09:33

Thanks fluffy. Any idea where I can find such a size??

JuniperTisane · 12/09/2014 09:36

MsBug I've been using Figleaves, free returns and if you leave some stuff in your basket for a while they tend to send you a 20% off code to persuade you a bit more. I tend to order about £300 worth of bras and send back all but one of them Blush

MsBug · 12/09/2014 09:37

Sunshine have you tried ebay? You can get new bras cheaper than i have found them in any store

HazleNutt · 12/09/2014 09:37

you can always go to Bravissimo. Even if it actually turns out you're too small for their bras, at least they can tell you what sizes you should try. But when measured properly, most women are D-cup or larger.

There are a lot of places online that sell 28DD bras - try the named Bravissimo, Brastop, Figleaves, ebay for starters.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/09/2014 09:38

I got mine in John Lewis.

beccajoh · 12/09/2014 09:38

Sign up for Figleaves emails and you get a 10% off code too. I use a different email address each time Wink

MsBug · 12/09/2014 09:38

Thanks for the tip juniper!

Ime BTs just add on inches as well, and they're not great for fitting. Neither are debenhams.

You need a bra intervention, on here- rollercoaster won't know what you're talking about as everyone in ireland adds inches- and a discussion about what kind of boobs you have, and what style of bra you need.

You need to go in with your bra interventionists measurements in your mind and tell them what to bring you.

For this reason, I buy everything online, and send it back if I don't like the style, but the size is perfect.

MnS are crap for bras, and don't stock the bras with the smaller backs. And they're obnoxious in grafton st- I've met that auld wan before- she's a proper cow.

I think peaches is an aspirational bourdoir shop- not much elastic everyday support in there. More sexy occasion wear.

Start a thread here for an intervention, and a discussion about what kind of boobs you have and what styles would suit you. And then order from figleaves or bravissimo.

VikingLady · 12/09/2014 10:03

Op, complain. At the very least she should be reprimanded. And they may send you vouchers Smile

heymammy · 12/09/2014 10:17

The problem I've found is that not every retailer has bought into the 'don't add 4 inches' and are still making tiny bras. In fairness it's probably at the cheaper end on the market, I tried Matalan and Asda. I read the brilliant intervention thread and stalked off on a mission to get my 32C.

First shop was Matalan, duly took home some 32Cs but they were all tiny and I couldn't even do them up. Looked on the back of the cardboard label where it had sizing info and it basically said this bra is suitable for measurements of 28" except they said it in cms just to bloody confuse everyone!

Asda was the same, I'm currently wearing their tshirt bra in size 36B which is nothing like my measurements but a really good fit.

Jux · 12/09/2014 10:52

Is there anywhere good in Exeter? I can't find anywhere except the obvious; M&S, Debenhams, JL

Lweji · 12/09/2014 10:53

There are lots of online shops for "larger" bras that do free returns.

I also measure 29 back and I have a range of 28F, 30DD and 30E, all properly fitted, so it depends on the maker and the model. But boobs also vary according to the time of the month in many women.
So, it's worth trying a range of different sizes to find the best.

Lweji · 12/09/2014 10:55

Also, I am tempted, although it would be too much faff, to go to a certain shop where I live to show them my 28F, when they suggested I should look in the children's section.

HazleNutt · 12/09/2014 11:17

and it does not even help if you show them that you are wearing a perfectly well fitting bra, nowhere near the size they suggest. They just claim that the bra must be oddly sized.
