bra help. . . m and s lady actually laughed at me

Hi there, I read the posts on correct bra fitting. I'm 31 and 38. Off I went to m and s, delighted with myself. Only to be sneered at. When the door dragon noticed I had a 32 Fs in hand, she actually put her arm out and said, where are you going with those, you're at least a 36C. i thanked her and said I had been given good advise and knew what I was doing. She sneered at me, and said you don't have a clue. Then have me a fake smile. Seriously?

So, more important than her bad attitude. . Am I trying. The right size. I did all the scoping but there was still a lot of unattractive under arm fat. I'm squishy of torso so tthere's going to be fat. i left without buying it. . . Though pretended to dragon lady that I was.

Any tips for me please?

How about Brown Thomas? I wouldn't recommend Debenhams.

JustLikeHeaven · 11/09/2014 23:20

i don't know about brown Thomas, I don't trust anyone now ;)

I buy online from Bravissimo. Do they deliver to Ireland?

JustLikeHeaven · 11/09/2014 23:59

Oh I'm not great with online shopping and would prefer someone to fit me to confirm my size. Thanks though. . Might be an option if I can't get anything else

I wouldn't recommend debenhams for fitting but they should at least have decent bras - the M&S bras are also poor quality, sizing is all over the place.

temporaryusername · 12/09/2014 01:32

How ironic that a M and S bra fitter said you didn't have a clue about sizes!

JustLikeHeaven · 12/09/2014 07:51

i know. She was am older lady and tried to make a joke of it but she had am awful attitude. Maybe she was just having a bad day, after my good friends little boy died suddenly, I've realised we never know what people have to deal with. Anyway, a bad day is no excuse, her attitude stunk, I just don't hear wound up about these things as I used to

Unless someone comes on here and suggest a place in Dublin that know what they're doing. . I'm just going to spend a Saturday going through different styles with the intervention rules and next time I'm in London get measured properly. There's definitely an opening in the market here for decent fitting

Thanks again. . Now I have to go and put on a bra that does absolutely nothing. ;)

Oh help, I was about to trundle off to m&s tomorrow in Birmingham for a fitting. I've measured 30/35, probably too small for bravissimo, so any wise mumsnetters advise me where to go? I'm terrified! All breast feeding years behind me but my boobs are getting increasingly sore and I think it's my current Calvin Klein bras (padded) that might be bruising me? Blush

Fairylea · 12/09/2014 08:05

Don'tmess- with those measurements you'd definitely be in bravissimo range so go along to them and see what they say. I'd put you at about a 30e.

Marks and spencers make me so bloody angry. They always try to insist I'm a 36DD. I am a 30GG. They have no clue how a proper fitting bra should look at all. It drives me crazy that the average woman thinks they are the authority on bra fitting..... sigh.

poocatcherchampion · 12/09/2014 08:06

Bravissimo in touchwood in Solihull dontmess

Its the bees knees

dontmesswithmytutu · 12/09/2014 08:09

Oo, thank you. I'll see if there's one in the city centre coz that's where I'll be. I'll look online first too, you've all put me off m&s for life reading this! Makes me think for my dds when they reach puberty..

ilovepowerhoop · 12/09/2014 08:10

dontmess, try 30DD

LIZS · 12/09/2014 08:14

sorry you had a miserable sales assistant :( I'm confused though . Our M & S branch is advertising free bra fitting and a £5 discount , have they actually retrained their staff or is it the same old ? Last time they decided I was a 40b and I know that isn't right, the one they "fitted" felt wrong but I was desperate for a strapless one and choice is very limited locally, so haven't been back.

MrsJoeDolan · 12/09/2014 08:40

BT - Grafton Street? You don't know BT !!

Anyway. I heard on radio recently about a gadget called the Maureen Personal Bra Fitter developed by a lady who runs a lingerie shop in Douglas in Cork. You can buy them online. It seems to measure accurately. So if you can't get to London you could try one of those. I'm sure there are decent lingerie shops in Dublin though!

MrsJoeDolan · 12/09/2014 08:43

Also, you might have better luck asking Mums on Rollercoaster.ie if they can recommend a good Dublin fitter.

Dunnes do nice lingerie also, don't feel you have to buy in M&S with the big euro mark-up!

Email him and tell him.

I'm a size 6/8 on top and wear a 28D.

kahori · 12/09/2014 08:53

I was measured in BT in limerick and cork and found them to be fairly good. Admittedly that was years ago. Is the Dublin store not good for measuring?

iwantgin · 12/09/2014 08:59

Marks and Spencer have always measured me at a 36C.

Am currently sporting 32E. Bit of a difference, eh ?

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/09/2014 09:01

I measure 29 on my frame so they'd put me in a 34A.

Grin

Which is why I spent 15 years hoiking my bra straps and getting back ache.

Biscoff · 12/09/2014 09:05

Complain loudly about her and the go to bravissimo, spend shitloads on beautiful bras then go and do a pretty woman on her.

Hi MrsJoeDolan. . i meant, I don't know if B T provide a good service. Of course I know it, I've many Saturdays drooling over handbags I would have to sell body parts to own

I'll ask on rollercoaster. . I've tried smaller lingerie shops around grafton Street and they also adopt the add inches method.

Thank you

CoconutAmericano · 12/09/2014 09:11

sorry shop not sins.! trying to text with Sun glaring.!

WitchWay · 12/09/2014 09:12

I don't wear a bra much as I find them uncomfortable - I find 34B & 36A uncomfortable that is to say. (thanks M&S)

Might go & try something like a 30D & see what happens...
