Skinny jeans

Thought I had found my dream skinny jeans with topshop leighs, but they lose colour terribly on the knees (small dc so a fair bit of crawling around on floor!).

Any recommendations for skinny jeans which don't lose colour, don't bag, suitable for 5' 3" size 8-10 (sometimes I need petite ranges for length).

(Dorothy Perkins Eden jeggings no good)

I am exactly the same as you it appears! I am currently hunting. I ordered some m&s high waisted indigo ones which fit well, but they are not "proper" jeans .
Gap are good too and the regular length fits my short legs.
I am going to try new look too.
Also Next have some utility leggings in which are Navy and are really nice. I ordered the 12 regular as they came up small.

Next Relaxed Skinnies are my favourites.

Catswiththumbs · 11/09/2014 10:42

Have you tried the Jamie jeans at Topshop? I prefer them over Leigh.

They sometimes are "ankle grazer style" so should be short enough for you. I buy in a longer leg so they aren't ankle grazer on me then turn them up sometimes

Next relaxed skinnies were brilliant last year - this year they are absolutely awful. I can't recommend them this year. The material is different, they are made from a really soft, baggy material. I am a size 12 in RL, a size 10 in Next relaxed skinnies from last year but even the 8 in the new skinnies was falling off me. Such a shame. If it ain't broke..

PrimalLass · 11/09/2014 12:21

You are right 101. I've kept a few 'too small' pairs that I ordered in the sale, just in case I fit into them soonish, because the new fabric is crap.

CatherineofMumbles · 11/09/2014 12:40

Last week bought some Tesco jeans having seen some on a friend and not believing she bought them in Tesco. They are so good I have worn them every day and this morning went back to get another pair Grin. In fact would have bought more, but only one pair in my size.
They are amazing - look much more expensive than they are (£16!), are as comfortable as leggings, and wore last night to a posh-ish art opening, and even Dh Shock said I looked good. Too soon to tell about the knees tho' ...
(And no, I don't work for Tesco or have shares! Grin)

plentyofshoes · 11/09/2014 15:32

Going to Tesco later tonight... which ones are they?

Lagoonablue · 11/09/2014 15:34

I wish skinny jeans were out tbh. I am bored with them!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 11/09/2014 15:43

If the OP is size 8-10 in Topshop leigh, I doubt she can fit the jeans in Next, M&S or gap. Or it could be just me thinking those three have really ridiculously large sizes. I remember a size 8 denim skirt falling down to my bum in Gap.

Laquila · 11/09/2014 15:51

I really rate New Look skinny jeans - they never seem to bag and wash very well. The ones I have are a bit stretchy, which I think helps. They have lost a hit of colour in the wash over the last year, but they're still a fairly uniform (but paler) colour, IYKWIM.

emnn · 11/09/2014 16:41

Thanks all some to investigate then! I have got size 8 Leigh's, haven't bought jeans from next for ages but did have a pair of size 8 denim shorts this summer that were so ridiculously huge it was unbelievable so onelittletoddler could be right! I am NOT a true size 8 (whatever that is these days), def more an 8-10 but sizing has gone so mental recently!!

I'm exactly the same as you! Topshop Leigh were my favourites til they all got holes in the knees from playing on the floor with my DS. I also tried Dorothy Perkins jeggings, not good - now my decorating trousers. So I'm hunting too, I've heard good things about Oasis Cherry jeans but worried the might be too long - I have a 27" leg.

GobblersKnob · 11/09/2014 16:58

I am currently loving ASOS Livingston leggings, super comfy, no bagging, sagging, slipping, even after several wears, revolutionary, just looked and they do come in petit, might be worth a try?

GobblersKnob · 11/09/2014 16:59

Jeggings not leggings, stupid kindle.

CatherineofMumbles · 11/09/2014 17:05

Tesco 'skinny' (sorry that's all they were described as on the label Grin - I steered clear of the 'superskinny' so can't comment on that.

HermioneDanger · 11/09/2014 18:15

I like uniqlo ultra-stretch jeans. I bought some this time last year and they still look practically new in spite of heavy wear. They take them up in store for nothing so are perfect for stumpy-legged people like me and go down to a 23" waist (though they are slightly generous) which I think would suit a Topshop size 8.

gerbiltamer · 11/09/2014 22:19

YY to Uniqlo ultra stretch skinnies. Finally on my third trip to the London stores I managed to get a dark grey pair of 32s. I don't understand why they were labelled high waist and the solid black/blue ones, but hey ho. Very comfy indeed - thanks S&B ladies :)

Eauneau · 11/09/2014 23:31

Definitely Next high waisted skinnies (not relaxed).

They are the bollocks!

kaykayblue · 12/09/2014 10:59

I think lots of people have made good suggestions, but I would add that if you are crawling around a lot on the floor, then even the best quality and most expensive jeans would lose colour at the knees and start to bag there - it's just the pressure and the rubbing from the floor.

It might be better to find a few cheaper pairs that you can treat as "disposable" until the crawling around stage has finished, otherwise you are just delaying the inevitable for a few weeks and losing a lot of money in the process!
