Zara sizing?

Acunningruse · 10/09/2014 08:43

I'm looking at a coat on Zara's website, I haven't bought anyhting from there for years so not sure what the sizing is like. I am a large 12/small 14 with a disproportionately large tummy- will the 14 be big enough?

TIA

Durr just realised it only comes in Small, Medium or Large. I wonder whether Medium will be big enough?

Sizing is notoriously small. I'm normally an 8 in topshop, whistles etc. I was trying on coats in there yesterday, I needed medium in several styles. Nice range of coats though

nipersvest · 10/09/2014 09:17

i am a size 12 and fit an 'm' in zara (am short with narrow shoulders though). my zara coat is an m and is plenty big enough, but sometimes in their dresses i need a large.

plentyofshoes · 10/09/2014 09:41

I love their coats. I am a size 8/10 and get a medium.

GobblersKnob · 10/09/2014 10:30

Depends what it is, jumper, top, coat, loose dress probably fine in a L, trousers maybe not.

I am a 12 and can't always get in a L, though sometimes can get in a M.

GobblersKnob · 10/09/2014 10:31

You said coat sorry Blush M or L depends on style, what is it?

areyoutheregoditsmemargaret · 10/09/2014 10:41

Definitely a large, I am a size 10 and this morning bought a Zara jacket in L, M was too small.

JanineStHubbins · 10/09/2014 11:30

I find the sizing large, esp in tops/jumpers/coats etc, across the shoulders.

Amrapaali · 10/09/2014 11:41

Don't buy it. Zara quality has nose-dived quite spectacularly since you last bought stuff from there. A couple of jumpers, T shirts etc I got last summer didn't last even a single wash. The jumper has turned into a cheesecloth. Hmm

LoonvanBoon · 10/09/2014 11:48

Sizing is generally small but it's also inconsistent. I'm a 12-14 on top, usually 12 on the bottom (though would need a 14 skirt from Zara) & also have a tummy issue.

I've bought 3 coats / jackets from Zara in recent years - one fitted jacket was a Large, one lightweight Summer jacket also a Large, one wax type Autumn jacket was generous in a Medium.

Thanks all. I don't know what to do! its this:

I love the colour and the fact that it is a wool mix and has a hood- I need a hood but don't do parka style coats.

With the cut of that coat I can't imagine you'd have a problem over the tummy, OP. I guess which size you'd need would depends on how tight it is across the shoulder.

Are you close to a Zara store? If so, returns to store are v. easy so I guess you could order both M & L & take one straight back?

Acunningruse · 10/09/2014 13:32

Ordered a large. Fingers crossed it fits! I am miles away from the nearest store but luckily returns are free.

Check the measurements online - it reveals that their S=8 M=10 & L=12 meaning some styles only go up to a 12!

BiggerYellowTaxi · 10/09/2014 13:53

I really like that coat. Can you please report back on how it fits, I'm a 14/16 so may be able to fit their XL if the sizing is generous.

Acunningruse · 10/09/2014 14:39

I definitely will report back as it sounds like their sizing is all over the place. If it doesn;t fit I might have to lose a few pounds as its the only one I've seen that I like!

Sizing is small, in my limited experience. I am a petite size 10, and had to buy a medium in one of their anorak type coats last year and also in one of their duvet type coats.
