50's dress? Please help

Hi all are 50's dresses stylish? I am going to a wedding in a few weeks and looking for ideas. Does anyone have any websites they could recommend? I am 5'5 size 12/14 with pale skin and dark hair. The bridesmaids are wearing dark blue. Any ideas for dresses? Any help would be much appreciated, I've just had a baby and I'm feeling under confident about shopping xxxx

Try Vivian of Holloway too. Can't paste the link for some reason.

Lindy Bop dresses are absolutely lovely. Mine isn't far different to my Vivien of Holloway, quality-wise, but was a fifth of the price.

MrsJossNaylor · 10/09/2014 07:37

Oh, and I'm 5ft 5ins, pale skin, dark fair, similar size to you. I found Lindy Bop v flattering, but I'd order a 14 if I were you - they're "vintage" sizes so come up small.

That's brilliant thank you. For lindybop would you recommend buying the petticoat too? Xx

There are some lovely things on this website: clarenceandalabama.myshopify.com

Range of prices and styles, from the big petticoat skirts to neat little wiggle dresses. Looking forward to treating myself once I am no longer pregnant!

LePetitPont · 10/09/2014 11:42

Ah - not sure if any of these dresses are bf friendly... We may both have to hang fire! Smile

That's a lovely dress but it says out of stock.
50s is very in right now.
Ebay have loads of lovely dresses.
Just type 50s dresses in the search.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 10/09/2014 16:06

I have this I've worn it with or without the petticoat, it looks fab either way. I'm not sure if the bust would work for BF?

TheresLotsOfFarmyardAnimals · 10/09/2014 16:07

You could do a 50's shirt dress if you're still BFing? It would still have the flattering shape and you could do an underskirt to really make it kick out.

hellsbellsmelons · 10/09/2014 16:08

Would something like THIS work?

JuneFromBethesda · 10/09/2014 17:55

If you're breastfeeding I'd go for a little cardigan with a full skirt, lots of petticoats. Much easier than a dress. You could wear a vest top under the cardigan for coverage when feeding.
