V quick question if so. I absolutely love your new hairstyle - any tips on styling, please? :)

Hello!! Yes I only have length on the top - all cut very short at the sides - not shaved - apparently cutting helps it grow in smoother as opposed to a buzz cut! I use Aveda phomollient (mousse) on it - blow dry it, then I just use a large round brush to give it volume, or sometimes I use a large barreled heated curler to give it height! Then lots of Elnett hairspray! I've also tried velcro rollers that work well if you have patience - I don't! Good luck!

PoppysStyle · 09/09/2014 19:31

And thank you by the way! It's fun to have hair a little different! :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/09/2014 19:35

Thank you. :) I have neither patience nor time tbh, but might have a play with the dryer and some mousse instead of my usual putty stuff. I need a cut but need to put it off for a week or two, as too busy - so thought it might be a good time to play around with it.

It really suits you - your face looks completely different (don't take that the wrong way!!!). Grin

Poppy - I would like you to get bolder eyebrows. I think would look cool

Nothanks18 · 09/09/2014 19:50

Poppy just want to say I really enjoy reading your blog....you look wonderful and your enthusiasm is infectious!

Floisme · 09/09/2014 19:51

I've just been for a look and, as Remus says, it looks great and your face is a completely different shape now! I have a similar kind of cut, except for more length at the sides but I can't be arsed styling it so I just slap on some putty and that's it.

Shopaccordingly · 09/09/2014 20:19

It looked great in the NYFW pictures you posted :)

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 09/09/2014 20:33

I'm totally ODing on social media at the mo' and am sick of all the same same fashion bloggers. You, my dear Joanna, are one of the originals and it's marvellous. Xxx

Nothanks18 · 09/09/2014 20:37

Yes I am soooo fed up of pigeon toed, oh look how skinny/tall am I, safe bets ( doesmybumlook40 springs to mind) Poppys Style is fresh and fun!

PoppysStyle · 09/09/2014 20:49

loordnoobson I am definitely experimenting with the brows - I have the Anastasia pomade and pencil that I love using - always a bit scared it will look too false though!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/09/2014 20:50

I would really love somebody to give me a proper eyebrow lesson - a real person, not a scary makeup counter lady.

Shopaccordingly · 09/09/2014 21:51

The Anastasia sets with the brow guides in are really useful if you want to do it yourself. I thought they might be gimmicky but have been using the set I've got for years, I go for in between - not really skinny or bushy, just groomed. When I have the chance to do them, that is!

lordnoobson · 09/09/2014 22:03

Just grow then get tinted and shaped at salon

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/09/2014 22:05

Urgh to going to a salon. I find it hard enough getting myself to the hairdressers - can't be doing with being fiddled with!

OP posts:
lordnoobson · 09/09/2014 22:06

You won't do it well. You're in and out in 20 min

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/09/2014 22:08

Also, I'd be scared that they'd give me those horrible thin lines.

OP posts:
lurkingaround · 09/09/2014 22:16

I wouldn't do my own eyebrows in a fit. I couldn't inflict that pain on myself and I'd be sure to make a pig's ear of the job. If it's a new person I always say 'not too thin'. Dye them myself tho. Can't go wrong there.

PoppysStyle · 09/09/2014 23:17

I've been 'growing' my brows for months - they are not thick at all - I always get them shaped when I get my hair done - but then just fill them in with the Anastasia products or NYX brow powder - I'm learning all the time and find great guides on pinterest.

ihatethecold · 10/09/2014 06:01

Do you have a link to your blog please?

Remus I do my own eyebrows and get loads of weird complements; "I love your eyebrows." They don't look like scouse brows or catterpillars.

I let them grow as full as possible and then shape them with tweezers. I then outline and fill in with dark brown powder. Naturally they are very fair but do look good done like this. I could not be bothered to go to a salon either it would feel like another chore. I do enjoy doing nails and treatments at home though.

PoppysStyle · 10/09/2014 15:01

Photographing my eyebrows from the office lol - quite happy with how they came out - heavier but not ott...

Nice. The third picture seems to show them most clearly. They look thicker but still natural.

I'm just enjoying the blog-love going on here. .. a nice change from the blogger-bashing that sometimes goes on here. Smile
