Foundation for acne prone skin

Beare · 08/09/2014 20:55

Hi helpful mumsnetters. I am after a liquid foundation that won't block my pores. The only foundation I have found that doesn't give me spots is bare minerals powder. However I am getting on and have fine lines and I find it abit ageing. I much prefer the look of a liquid but all the ones I have tried block my pores. Even the ones which are none comedogenic. I want something quite light. My skin is not too bad. I just have melasma from the pill which needs abit of coverage. Thank you in advance. X

You could try clinique super balanced

yazzy85 · 08/09/2014 21:28

I have oily acne prone skin too and boots no7 foundations have been great, no breakouts and good oil control

dr3aming · 08/09/2014 21:36

Which No 7 foundation do you recommend?

impatienceisavirtue · 08/09/2014 21:41

No 7 made me a million times worse, I think everyone's reacts differently - maybe go to a department store and ask for a few samples of things? MAC is the best one I've found for my skin, for instance, when I know it plays hell for others

yazzy85 · 08/09/2014 21:49

haha yeah you are right at that, mac studio fix broke me out sadly Sad I'm using the No7 Stay Perfect with the matching concealor and loose powder ontop. I think asking the different makeup counters for samples and trying them out at home would be the best way to see what works with your skin.

impatienceisavirtue · 08/09/2014 22:22

I was exactly the opposite combo - studio fix is fab for me and stay perfect made me break out awfully ha ha

impatienceisavirtue · 08/09/2014 22:23

Oh and blotting paper is fab too. I am always both amazed and disgusted at what comes off on those throughout the day.

minkah · 09/09/2014 00:02

Have you tried mixing your bare minerals powder in with your moisturiser?

RonaldMcDonald · 09/09/2014 00:06

colourstay foundation

IHeartKingThistle · 09/09/2014 00:12

I think they discontinued it in the uk, but if you can get hold of some neutrogena skin clearing foundation (ebay?) I found it amazing. Broke the cycle.

OldCatLady · 09/09/2014 09:38

I use Lancôme teint idole...only one for me!

rainbowinmyroom · 09/09/2014 09:40

I use a BB creme. It's brilliant.

xNix1 · 09/09/2014 10:36

Estée Lauder Double Wear is great. I use the 'light' version and still get good coverage. Doesn't slip too much either, despite my very oily face.

I do, however, have to remove it at night or I will break out. Perfectly clear when I religiously clean my face though!

Beare · 09/09/2014 20:13

Wow thank you for all your suggestions. It seems to be a case of trying different things as everyone's different. It's a really good idea to mix the bare minerals. I will try that tomorrow. Thank you xx

I also love the Lancôme Tient miracle one. And Vichy derma blend too.

LoafersOrLouboutins · 09/09/2014 22:50

All of the Bobbi Brown foundations. Clarins everlasting (heavy coverage but acne friendly).STAY AWAY from YSL Touche Éclat. Its terrible for breakouts.
