Is Boden a teeny tiny bit PA?

I didn't want any more email offers, so I unsubscribed. Look at this message:

Unsubscribe confirmation

So it’s really goodbye.

You have now been removed from our mailing list. Just to warn you, it might take seven to ten days for this information to filter through our systems; which means there’s a chance you might get an email or two from us in the next week. After that, we'll never darken your inbox with this sort of email ever again.

Ummm...okaaay...

The passive aggressiveness literally leaps out. Or is it just me? I can imagine Johnny shrugging and muttering, "Your bloody loss" Grin

OP posts:

If they could find a way to shed a tear via an email, they would milk it :)

pinkfrocks · 08/09/2014 12:49

No- think you are over-thinking.
I'd say it's to reassure people that the unsubscribe is not instant.

If you read Boden's emails and website blurb then it's classic 'Boden speak'.

Marylou2 · 08/09/2014 12:55

How could you break up with Johnny? I wish I could but then I'd be naked and gave to brave the shops and that's a dreadful and scary thought.

victoryinthekitchen · 08/09/2014 13:02

just think, no more listening to Johnny's soothing voice reassuring you when you're waiting on the phone!

Twinklestein · 08/09/2014 13:09

Johnny's a narcissist he can't cope with rejection.

Twinklestein · 08/09/2014 13:10

You've made the right choice to ditch him OP, it would never have worked.

GobblersKnob · 08/09/2014 13:14

I think you are over thinking, I can't see where it is pa at all.

RonaldMcDonald · 08/09/2014 13:29

I thought you meant Peter Andre

FrancesFarmer · 08/09/2014 14:36

LTB ;)

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 08/09/2014 14:37

Oh god, I had a 'we miss you!' postcard the other day. I've only ever bought three things for myself from Boden, and one of those was only a few weeks ago anyway!

youbethemummylion · 08/09/2014 14:43

I only buy from Boden about once a year when they send a 'we miss you' letter and a £10 voucher. This email is typical of their style but not PA imo.

ZebraZeebra · 08/09/2014 15:13

Eurgh I think it's awful and I say that as a digital marketing professional! Also not sure why it takes so long to be removed from their mailing list. I do this for my clients immediately and it's an automated process. So yeah, a little PA of them.

ZaraW · 08/09/2014 15:58

I hate it when you submit an order and then they tell you they are doing a little dance of joy............ just think you will never get that again ;)

Eminybob · 08/09/2014 17:07

Yes the "we'll never darken your inbox..." Is very pa imo.

Cereal0ffender · 08/09/2014 17:10

The sassy skirts were a red flag for me, gas lighting my fat arse into thinking it could carry off enormous prints

How cringey!

Johnny sounds like a bit of a dick, you did the right thing.

Kleptronic · 08/09/2014 19:26

Ha ha Cereal that's genius!

I have never bought Boden, any good? Had a gander at the kids section once, thought 'meh', but didn't look too hard really.

Drywhiteplease · 08/09/2014 19:40

I've not had an "I miss you" post card and voucher....now I'm really pissed off Angry

lordnoobson · 08/09/2014 19:41

it seems no one is buying from this seasob's boden

ALl i wanted was a bloody white or cream Ravello top. and they dont even have those

FabulousFudge · 08/09/2014 19:42

They will send you £10 vouchers and 15% off letter in the post on a regular basis to entice you back.

ruralmyth · 08/09/2014 19:56

lordnoobson I bought a Ravello top in the least ever racy navy leopard print, it looks awful.

divingoffthebalcony · 08/09/2014 20:35

It's not PA, they think they're being arch and endearing, which is totally the Boden way.

HolgerDanske · 08/09/2014 20:45

Wow.

I would be so offended at the implication that I'm just a dumb-dumb and I need stupid pally language like that from a company I'm buying clothes from.

Twinklestein · 08/09/2014 20:53

Me too, I find it twee, irritating, offensive. Don't get me started on the clothes.

Does he think that his buyers are so undiscriminating that they will fall for his cloying schtick?
