Clarks Movie Retro Boots - do they avoid being mum boots?

here - they are very practical re colour and heel, does the styling save them from being frumpy or is the quilting over the top?

I personally think the quilting is awful, sorry.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/09/2014 10:31

There was a long thread on these last week. Most people didn't like them much, iirc. Clarks have some much nicer ones than those.

PedlarsSpanner · 07/09/2014 10:32

They are vile

KoalaDownUnder · 07/09/2014 10:34

God, sorry - they are hideous.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/09/2014 10:45

No, just no. They are dreadful. SorryGrin

nancy75 · 07/09/2014 10:47

Have to agree they are totally mum boot

lucylocketchildminder · 07/09/2014 12:01

Oh no I just ordered some, I thought they were really nice :-(

herecomesthsun · 07/09/2014 12:11

have seached and cannot find earlier thread

I think looking at them they might be either rather good or awful on, it depends whether they look too clumpy or whether it can be pulled off (still in 2 minds) though I have enough boots really.

Lucy - if you like them, that really is all that matters. They haven't photographed well, tbh, and look (a bit) better irl. The earlier thread was somebody wanting them to wear with a White Company jacket - it's no longer in my, 'Threads I'm on' so can't find it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/09/2014 12:28

If you like them, wear them! I have been wearing Birkies for the last twenty years, long before they were deemed 'in.' I couldn't give a figGrin

katejvernon · 22/10/2014 18:19

I bought them ... and they are fab! (just saying)

Lifesalemon · 22/10/2014 19:05

I quite like them.

GiantGraspingCeramicFist · 22/10/2014 19:09

They do avoid it, but only in the sense that they are grandma boots.

Nothing massively offensive about that, of course - I'm hardly blazing up the street style section of Grazia myself Grin I just hate quilting.

nilbyname · 22/10/2014 19:09

Think with the right trousers/jeans they could be ok.

Just no mod he boot cut mum Jean!

nilbyname · 22/10/2014 19:09

Mid blue boot cut, sheesh!

bloodyteenagers · 22/10/2014 19:16

If those are this seasons must have... I must really be out of touch. They are really horrible. But hey if you like them, its your money. Although yet to find any of the clarks footwear posted on these pages as nice.

MaryMarigold · 22/10/2014 19:44

I like them, but I found them so tight I couldn't get my foot into them. And my feet are quite narrow. I think it's more the 'depth' of them that's problematic. They are much nicer in the flesh.

Madaboutthrows · 22/10/2014 20:25

I think they are the boots that are shown in one of the current Clarks adverts. I like them

Ilovenicesoap · 22/10/2014 20:27

They are frumpy Mum boots .
Im never keen on Clarks tbh

wildfig · 22/10/2014 21:33

I just do. not. understand the shoes/boots Clarks pull out to be their 'feature' styles. They always choose the fugliest ones, so I assume they're somehow the directional styles and I must be way off.
