Leggings with short top

Ok girls touchy subject this. I am normally all for the worldwide ban of wearing leggings with anything other than a tunic style top to cover bum and crotch but been to a party tonight and two women were wearing leggings and short tops which actually looked really nice.
Granted the leggings one was wearing were from jack wills (I asked her cos the plum colour was lovely) so were lovely quality but didn't look at all naff.
I get to show off my new womanly profile (yawn, see profile) at the gym when I wear my Lycra but not really out on the street so to speak for fear of committing a fashion cardinal sin but now think perhaps leggings and shorter tops are ok??

I'm thinking that if you are a perfectly toned size 8/10, then go for it.

Many of my students, aged 14 to 18, wear this look and look great.

Personally I wouldn´t wear it. I´d love to see an older woman rocking them, though.

I think leggings look nicer with short tops. All the teens around here are rocking the look as happy says.

I don't like the leggings with tunic look, other than on pregnant women.

agree you gotta dress for your body. End of. If you have a toned body then go for it, if you dont then personally I wouldnt.

Its a look that's very easy to be unflattering/mutton. Skinny jeans and a bum-skimming top give much the same effect without being as risky.

But then I love wearing leggings and tunics

I've moved away from the leggings with tunic look as it seems a bit old. Leggings with short top is tricky but can be done IF the leggings are thick enough - seen enough patterned knickers through thin leggings to last me a lifetime!

Currently favouring disco pants and short top when I want the dressed up leggings look.

Cant ever imagine it would ever look good in anyone over 20 tbh. My dd look great In short tops and leggings. She is 7. Its just not a good look on anyone over 20 imo. Even if you have a perfect figure, The revealing aspect of leggings with a short top imo makes a person look like they they are trying too hard.

Still... No to short tops w leggings. It's not about if you "can", but if you "should". I prob could, but just wouldn't. I don't like the look.

When I say no to short tops, I'm not saying "yes" to tunic tops, BTW. Just "yes" to bum skimming.

I just think one sees too much detail round the crotch with leggings and a short top. So I really would never do this for anything other than the gym.

Most leggings are just too thin to be worn with short tops no matter how toned the wearers body is. Too many people seem oblivious to the fact that their knickers can be seen through their leggings. Even the outline of the knickers or thong is too much display IMO.
If you want to show your figure then at least go for denim jeggings as they resemble trousers rather than tights.
