Help! Jacket over smart black work dress

I'm useless with clothes and am trying to smarten my image at work (i'm a solicitor in a commercial firm in the north if that helps). I've bought some smart sleeveless dresses from TK maxx (sorry, I can't work out how to make these work on my phone!):

I need a smart jacket to go over the top, and I think I need one that is cropped/stops at the waist, but am not sure about colour.

Black seems a bit boring, but any ideas what I should go for? Ideally would get one for all three dresses (i don't have that many client meetings, which is generally when I would wear them) but if not one for the black dresses.

there were black versions of the same jacket. And besides, it was wine, which goes with everything
