Could anyone living closer to shoe shops and civilisation than I do point me in the direction of some chunky, fairly thick-soled biker boots that nonetheless don't weigh about a stone on each foot? Have just realised it's time to put my Birkenstocks away...
I prefer the kind that don't taper at the ankle, and that stop at mid-calf or so. I know they exist, because I've had them before, but no luck finding them online this year...

And PS, while I have the attention of the Mn fashionistas, has anyone seen a sort of slouchy knitted hat, halfway between a beanie and a woollen beret? Colour no issue, it's a slouchy, but not grungy, shape I'm looking for!
