My spotty chin

I'm 28. As a teen i had a really spotty chin. It cleared up fine, and got to the point where i would have one, maybe two spots for a couple of days around the time of my period. Over the last 6/8 months the spots have been appearing earlier in my cycle and lasting longer to a point where i now have 3/4 spots permanently on my chin. They are very sore and can take ages to clear up but there are always new ones ready there to take their place.

What do i need to do?

Starting taking the pill perhaps? And cleanse with a gentle cleanser then treat with a cream containing either benzoyl peroxide or a BHA (salicylic acid). Will definitely do the trick.

Bravura dermaflannel sorted out my hormonal chin spots

I had this problem a while ago, but on my cheeks. Sore spots, sometimes hiding under the skin... Lumpy, sometimes just red and sore without a head...always there!

You could have other issues, but I would recommend reconsidering your food habits as essential .. I started eliminating sugary and processed foods, and eating loads of fruit like blackberries, strawberries, etcetera etc and increasing my water intake...

It helped enormously...

I still don't have amazing skin but I don't get those kind if spots anymore!

I tried effaclar duo, which had a limited benefit... But at this age the teenage stuff is too harsh... Try appropriate avene or la Roche products..

If you overhaul your diet and it still doesn't help by all means visit gp...

My complexion has improved, and I have got some colour back into my face ... I used to look a bit grey!

Have read that jawline / chin breakouts are hormonal issues.

Probably worth looking into balancing your hormones.

I used to get these and then I started using a gentle facial scrub about 3x a week and the spots are very rare now, can't remember the last time I had a bad one.

It may also have coincided with me getting the Mirena coil from the hormone point of view though.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/09/2014 21:27

I mean the improvement coincided with the Mirena, not the spots themselves, I had them for years before I got the coil.

thanks all for responses. I would say you are right that it is a mix of hormones and not so great diet catching up on me. I'm not so keen to go on the pill or get the mirena coil tbh if I can avoid them so I will clean up my diet and try a change in cleansing habit/products and see how I get on. I'm starting college on Monday and these teenage spots couldn't be more appropriate Grin
