The summer sun is fading as the year grows old,
and darker days are drawing near,
the winter winds will be much colder,
now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
and one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them,
now you're not here

Ooh Rudy sounds radical! Are you going much lighter?
MI your hair is fabulous and a great colour .
Herbs definitely consult a stylist if you are changing it completely. They will be able to suggest something that suits your face and thickness of hair.

Says she who gets a £8 cut and blow dry in a Cheapo Haircut walk in joint.
I do my own colour and am now stuck in a rut with the pale blonde colour. Afraid to go any darker as hair is white underneathShockBlush

Cremo, white looks stunning! There are a crepey few women with white hair round here and they all look fabulous.

bigTillyMint · 11/09/2014 17:05

So proud of DD - she just came in with one of the leaflets that she made on work exp (so it wasn't just a time-filling exercise!) and it looks so professional and really sells the event. All those lessons on how to do a persuasive leaflet must have been worth itGrin

motherinferior · 11/09/2014 17:31

Oh, BTM, that's lovely.

My darling PFB has come in with BFF and gone out again to youth theatre. The house is...silent again Grin. Also, once again, I haven't poisoned nut-allergic BFF, phew.

My mum's consultant says go to India. He's the doc...Grin

CointreauVersial · 11/09/2014 17:33

I haven't had my hair cut for over a year now, apart from the odd self-administered fringe trim. I'm just waiting to see what happens.

Re: "different" parents - DM is as square and conformist as they come. DDad, however, is once-met-never-forgotten, and was quite a popular sight at boarding school whenever he visited, chatting loudly and happily to all and sundry, and handing out chocolate. Although he did flirt with the 6th Form a little more than he perhaps should. Hmm

bigTillyMint · 11/09/2014 17:49

Well, that's advice worth taking into account, MI!

motherinferior · 11/09/2014 18:09

Yes - he says it's going to be a long process, and a break is a good idea. Hmm. I am also heartened by his clear assumption she's not going to drop off the perch between now and November. Grin

Rosebag · 11/09/2014 18:19

MI Smile This is good. And heartening for the patient to see things not being cancelled because of her illness.

I have managed to double book classes for this coming Monday morning. I just don't know how I missed the error. I am trying to re arrange 7 couples who think that they were taking a day off work for 4 hours of me. I am also digging a fall out shelter. Shock Blush Angry

motherinferior · 11/09/2014 18:22

Rosebag, this is the time to lie. Grin

motherinferior · 11/09/2014 18:46

Mr Inferior has defied all stereotypes and booked the Inferiorettes eye appointments Shock

Seriously, Rosebag, claim that you've been mugged by an albatross or something.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/09/2014 19:26

Rose - lie like mad. Can anyone else help?

Rudy - I want to see the new haircut (with and without bra on head).

BTM - sounds brilliant! Well done your DD!

MI - so crack on with that visa form!

CV - was your Dad pervy dad? Grin

Auriga · 11/09/2014 21:36

Herbs, the words 'how can anyone be so fucking insensitive?' have often been on the tip of my tongue. It does become less of a problem as they get older, if that's any consolation. I mean, the hurtful comments and questions. They're less frequent, anyway, if not less hurtful.

cremolafoam · 11/09/2014 22:30

Yes Herbs, wot a cow!
Believe me I've had fair share with dd the winner of which was from a neighbour of my brother, at his funeral:
"I expect you'll be satisfied now that you are adopting dd, seeing as you can't have any of your own"

Still stings after 14 years. Biatch.I still wonder how she even knew about my fertility situation. Overheard?
Fuck knows. But imagine saying that!

CointreauVersial · 11/09/2014 22:39

Grin MrsS, no, I think he stopped short of being pervy dad - just! He certainly charmed the pants off the house mistress, although this may have had a lot to do with the bottle of whisky he always turned up with. It worked in my favour, tbh.

Hoping your India trip stays intact, MI....

I've just been sewing up a massive split in DS's school trousers, which were brand new last week. Angry BTM - I may have to pick your brains as to the best source of boy's trousers for the muscular of thigh.

CointreauVersial · 11/09/2014 22:40

Christ, Crem, that is breathtakingly insensitive. Shock Angry

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/09/2014 22:52

OMG Crem! The fucking insensitive cow!

When DH and I were getting married, one of his (female) work colleagues said to me "Do you have family money?"

"Oh yes," I said, "We're loaded." (Not, but I thought she was joking, so responded in kind.)

"Well that explains a lot," she said. "We were all wondering what he saw in you."

Rosebag · 11/09/2014 22:56

Lie? Shame on you lot Grin
No, I have managed to re arrange the seven couple class to a Saturday morning near the end of the month, except for two couples who can't make it, so I have to repeat the class for them at another time. The other course will go ahead on Monday morning. I am wrecked with the effort of it all. What a monumental cock up.
tilly that such nice news about your DD
I must get some sleep. Meeting with ConScript tomorrow afternoon. Assuming I haven't double booked that with some class or other..... Confused

lalsy · 11/09/2014 23:16

Crem, that is absolutely extraordinary. And Herbs. What can these people be thinking?

Good for dd, BTM.

Trousers - ds' thighs are unremarkable but he can split a pair of M and S in a morning. The John Lewis ones at about 12-14 quid seem to last longer. We found a vital item of PE kit in the tea towel drawer tonight Grin.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/09/2014 23:18

I think I am quite pleased that we don't have school uniform to deal with, apart from effing PE kit. Although at the DDs' schools, uniform seems to be jeans, T shirt, hoodie and Converse.

MollyAir · 11/09/2014 23:26

MrsS, that is priceless. Grin

MollyAir · 11/09/2014 23:28

Your anecdote is priceless, I mean, obvs. Re uniform: dd's school have skorts. They are better than gym knickers, is all I can say.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/09/2014 23:41

I had Sturdy Navy Blue cotton gym knickers with a pocket for a hankie. My Mum is still using them to clean the windows.

Molly - yes, it was exceptionally amusing, because rumours then flew round that my Dad was a famous media person (we shared a surname) and then they changed again and he became a famous politician. People started treating me very differently and it was very funny. "Oh I didn't realise you were X's daughter." I just said "Oh, didn't you?" Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/09/2014 23:45

I am taking my Mum to see her elder brother in the hospice on Saturday. I called her youngest brother (who is not much older than me) to see if we could meet him afterwards for a drink, as I felt I would need light relief from my mother and the whole situation. Thankfully he can come. I am not sure my liver will be able to cope though.

bigTillyMint · 12/09/2014 06:49

MrsSShock That is indeed priceless. I also wore similar gym knickers. I think DD wears gym shorts (still age 10/11) although she does have a PE skirt exactly the same as the one I wore, but in black.

I got DS the last school trousers in M&S - age 16 slim-fit IIRC (although he has long legs and muscular thighs, he is not portly round the midriff yet!) He is still trying to shoe-horn himself into his age 15 ones though (with white socks!!!), I predict a massive rip before longGrin

Rose glad to hear you rearranged without lying! And good that your DM is going to visit, and that you have some liquid relief after, MrsS!

Outlaws are coming tonight so I think I will call in for some steaks at the butchers on the way home and have put a bottle of champagne in the fridge so we can belatedly toast my 50th. They are teen-minding so we can go up to BFF's 50th tomorrow nightSmile

lalsy · 12/09/2014 07:20

I wore baggy, bright turquoise, nylon gym knickers. ......dd had a skort too, I thought it was excellent but my baseline is very low, for obvious reasons.
