Have decided on this dress for a wedding and just do not know what to wear with it - bag, shoes etc

Dress www.coast-stores.com/emmy-dress/all-dresses/coast/fcp-product/1319522

I really don't want to go down the nude shoe route as nude shoes are everywhere I look. The model is wearing the dress with black but I think that is a bit too harsh for a daytime wedding. I also seem to have terrible feet as I get older and want something elegant but not too high, no sling backs or sandals etc. People have said to get shoes in the same colour but that's proving impossible as we are going into winter and all cobalt blue shoes are out of stock. I saw some silver shoes in Hobbs that look okay but again they seem to be out of stock! I have seen this bag and shoes and wondered if they would work at all??

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated :) X

Lovely dress!

I like both your suggestions , but wouldn't try to match the shoes and bag - eg silvery snake skin shoes with the bag in pink instead

Amandaclarke · 02/09/2014 22:25

Families thank you :)

That's interesting you say introduce a third colour, I think I am a bit too uniform and matchy matchy for my own good....

Also have seen these shoes but again I am worrying that too much of one colour is going to look a bit odd and there is no way of knowing if they are a proper colour match to the dress - two different blues would look worse I think...

I wouldn't try to direct match a non-patterned dress in a distinct colour with a non-patterned shoe in a similar colour.

If the Queen doesn't do it Wink

HolgerDanske · 02/09/2014 22:34

Pink or orange shoes :-)

Amandaclarke · 02/09/2014 22:40

Ha! I have never heard of that....

Doesn't the queen usually match her bag and shoes though? :) I might have to google!

Gorgeous dress. Definately go for a contrast colour shoe - silver, pink, orange, even yellow could work

Amandaclarke · 03/09/2014 17:12

Thanks all - I scoured the shops for hours today and just couldn't find the right thing at all in a block colour, could find shoes but then struggled to find a bag, also found shoes and bag but felt they were too "harsh" for the dress and more evening wear than daytime. So I eventually ended up with these which I had seen online and completely dismissed, however in the flesh they are really nice and the cobalt blue comes through. There are so many colours in the shoes and bag as well to add another colour to the outfit and we did try a pale pink silk wrap which suprisingly worked really well with the whole thing. I would have loved to have gone for the higher shoe but also know I will never manage on them all day and evening...

Lovely shoes

standingonlego · 03/09/2014 23:29

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Gorgeous! You will look absolutely fabulous Smile

Enjoy the wedding

waitingforgodot · 04/09/2014 08:30

Oh that bag and those shoes are gorgeous!!!!!!!

bouncinbean · 04/09/2014 08:40

Love the bag and shoes but I'm not a fan of too matchy personally so I would probably try to get a pinkish/coral shoe that matches the colours in the bag.

SinglePringle · 04/09/2014 08:53

Not keen on the LK Bennett shoes or bag.

I'd do as suggested above and go for hot pink shoes and a silver clutch (you'll see the shoes more on the day as you'll put the bag down, so I'd make sure they were the stronger colour).

Amandaclarke · 04/09/2014 09:01

Single - I scoured the shops for a coloured shoe and couldn't find anything I would be able to walk in or that I liked. This was the best option...

I might consider changing the bag but the shoes have got to stay Grin

OP posts:
HolgerDanske · 04/09/2014 09:10

Then I would change the bag, tbh. IMO the bag and shoes together is just a bit much.

Amandaclarke · 04/09/2014 09:25

Yes I sort of feel the same.....however if I was then to introduce a wrap (Wedding up north and could be cold) I think there would be too much going on?

I googled hundreds of pictures yesterday (sad) of celebrity wedding outfits and an awful lot of ladies had a shoe/bag match Confused

I do have another outfit that I am really considering as this one is stressing me out too much Grin

OP posts:
HolgerDanske · 04/09/2014 09:35

Heh don't let us stress you out further! If you do decide to wear it, it will look lovely and no one will pay too much attention to whether or not it's on the matchy matchy side.

However that clutch you linked to in OP would go nicely with the shoes and is neutral enough to be fine with busy shoes and pink shrug, IMO.

(Always good to have an excuse to buy another bag Grin)

Amandaclarke · 04/09/2014 09:46

I don't need many excuses to buy another bag or shoes!

The original linked bag is available and is really nice as I did try both the shoes and bag with the dress (shoes too tight and too uncomfortable) and thinking about it, it would go with the pink wrap fairly well so yes I might exchange the LKB bag for that one or a silver clutch - there are hundreds of silver bags about.

Silver accsories. i.e shoes bag. If you wear hair things again silver and paint your nails silver.

Amandaclarke · 04/09/2014 19:22

Okay I expect a few sighs BUT I just can't make the outfit work or feel good. Although I had tried the dress on in store, I was undecided on the size and they had limited stock so ordered a couple online and they arrived today and whilst one size is "okay", I think it would feel a bit tight by the evening and I will feel self conscious, the size bigger is absolutely huge and neither are working. I also feel the whole matchy bag/shoe combination is wrong but can't really find the right thing to rectify it.

I bought this dress the other day for work and had no intention of wearing it to the wedding, I bought it for work. However it really suits my shape, I feel lovely in it, not at all self conscious and really comfortable.

So new dress, new question - how to accessorise? I am not going to do the matchy bag and shoe thing but was thinking of gold accessories - something like this

www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0214-186N-100900&productvarid=0214-186N-100900-GOLD-1SIZE&refpage=jewellery

With the matching bracelet and maybe a gold clutch and then red shoes, obviously depending on colour match being right!

or

Any other thoughts on a colour to accessorise?
