New glasses!

I need new glasses. What's stylish in the world of glasses and would suit a late 30 something with pale colouring and a square-ish shaped face?

obviously I'll be trying on etc but just wondered if there are any particular styles that might look good.

I like cat eye ones.
I've got prada butterfly shaped ones at the moment. Which follow the shape of my eyebrows.

I think you need to try on every pair and come up with a short list. Then whittle them down.

ignore what's in fashion, it is what suits your face shape and prescription. Also think durability because specs are not cheap.

the opticians should be able to advise - just ordered a new pair at my specsavers where there is a great 'tell it like it is' lady who lets you know what works and what doesn't.

can you take someone with you to give you a brutally honest opinion, I try to get my brother to come with me as he steers me away from the naff ones I seem to go for!

The standard advice is to go for a frame that counteracts your face shape e.g. if if your face is square then avoid square-ish frames. I second the cats eye shape because they kind of lift your cheekbones (very flattering on women of a certain age). There are some good tips on Pinterest too.

I've just got a new pair of Oliver Peoples frames that I really like but they don't seem to be on their website any more - maybe I've bought the last pair Shock If I can find them, I'll post the link.

I love my Oliver Peoples. I found a great independent optician who was patient with me and gave great advice. floisme what style did you get? I have some awesome Wacks.

I usually wear contact lenses but I do love my glasses. I bought two for one in Specsavers (the one I go to is brilliant, better than the local independents), one (subtle!) red pair and one brown pair. They are both from Roxy.

I got the Lilla, ThePerfectNegroni I can't see them on the Oliver Peoples website any more so I don't know if they've been discontinued but they're like this and they also did them in a really nice green:
www.glassesnow.co.uk/oliver-peoples-lilla-cocobolo.html?gclid=CLfvw_v_xcACFSXKtAodKwsAWQ#168=112

I also have these which I love from Face a face although again they've been discontinued. I've got them in purple/pink www.specsdirectbarnet.co.uk/products/?sub=item&id=163571&cid=2672

They're not cheap but I wear specs 24/7 so they're the one thing I refuse to skimp on.
