Please help me buy something fabulous!

I'm properly fed up at the moment but I had an unexpected bonus from work paid last week and I want to spend it all on me. I'll still be fed up after I've spent the bonus but at least I'll own something fabulous.

Problem is, I am really at my fatest at the moment. I'm a size 18 and I've avoided spending money on clothes until I lose weight. But it just isn't happening, so I want to buy something now.

I have enough bags and shoes and a new pair of Jimmy Choos on the way so I would like to buy something to wear.

So lovely MNtters, if you were my size and had a fairly unlimited budget and the whole of Net-a-Porter (or similar) to choose from, what would you buy?

Hiya

If you're feeling fed up, clothes shopping is the way to go! I'm a size 18 in Primarni, and a 14 in Evans, and I love their footwear (they cater for people with big backsides and a heavy foot!). I also love TK Maxx and H&M because they often size in letters, not scary numbers :)

If you can, why not treat yourself to a personal shopping experience, for a professional to talk you through suitable clothes for your shape, now? Don't worry about only spending money when you lose weight...chances are it took a long time to gain weight, so it shouldn't come off in a few weeks.

Debenhams have a giftcard of £100 available that includes a personal shopping experience. Alternatively there are growing numbers of independent stylists out there, although there is a charge. Not sure what other stores' situations are (House of Fraser, John Lewis etc).

I'd advise you not to buy anything unless it makes you twirl, and not to worry about the numbers, because no one knows what they are except you....and I imagine you do the laundry, too!

You can't beat leggings and a dress, which you can warm up with long sleeved tee shirts and a cardy.

How about a new watch? A fabulous watch is always a good buy!

Thanks Dudess and Foxy.

Dude - I'm stuck at work (part of the reason I am fed up) so it is internet shopping only for me. But a personal shopper is a great idea for when I have more time.

Foxy - I'm after the diamond encrused Rolex from DH for my next significant birthday so that's probably one to wait for.

Ooh, just remembered that Wallis have a free online style advisor which is pretty good for inspiration.

A camel cashmere coat. That's what I would like. Luxe, warm and stylish. Now I really want one!

ThisBitchIsResting · 02/09/2014 22:21

This

Apatite1 · 02/09/2014 22:25

ThisBitch that coat is STUNNING. LOVE IT.

Sadly I'm a short arse, it'll never fit

Oly4 · 02/09/2014 22:25

I agree that an amazing cashmere coat or huge cashmere scarf would make you feel lush. Or some amazing leather boots for winter that you know will get better with age. Failing that, have a beautiful piece of jewellery made to remind yourself that thugs do get better. I did that once. When a significant ex broke up with me I bought myself a beautiful Greek enamel ring.
When I wear it now, I remember how I felt and smile that things do get better.
Sorry you're feeling rubbish

Oly4 · 02/09/2014 22:28

Ps just seen the maxmara coat. Why couldn't a shirt arse wear it? I'm 5ft 4 and I'd wear it. It's gorgeous!!

Oly4 · 02/09/2014 22:28

Short not shirt :-)

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 02/09/2014 22:32

Oh that coat. Beautiful.

WanttogotoDisney · 02/09/2014 22:51

Beautiful coat and I'm loving the Max Mara stuff generally. But on what planet has it ever been acceptable to wear green tights: gb.maxmara.com/p-1621094806005-fischio-green

She looks like she stepped off the set of Wicked! Grin

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 02/09/2014 23:14

The tights aren't the only problem. The jumpsuit is awful and can you imagine the discomfort of sitting or bending in it?

Amandaclarke · 02/09/2014 23:37

LOVE that coat - in fact that might be my new purchase for winter....

Personally when feeling fat I go for new coat, new bag or new shoes/boots for some reason the size doesn't matter so much with these three things Smile

Apatite1 · 03/09/2014 22:18

If anyone finds a coat in a similar colour to the pink maxmara, but shorter, please direct me to it!
