What the blazes is "blush suede"?

My lovely SIL has given me a Jo Malone candle for my birthday. It smells beautiful but I'm utterly bemused by the name of the fragrance- "Peony and Blush Suede". Peony I get, obviously, but is it supposed to have undertones of soft leather shoes or something? And if so, doesn't "blush" coloured suede smell the same as any other type of suede?

The Jo Malone website tells me nothing, and goes off at a random tangent about crisp apples. I am not in AIBU, but AIBU to think it's all a load of tosh?

Yes, tosh. If they meant 'leather' (a lovely smell) why don't they just say so?

At least the JM names give you some hint as to what it might smell of; most fragrance names are completely conceptual.

Leather and suede are definite fragrance notes, though. Leather a bit more masculine and heavy than suede.

Does someone actually decide what smells are allowed to be "fragrance notes"? Goodness me. I am now going to sniff my shoes blind to see if I can tell the differences between the different colours if suede Grin
