Wedding head attire

I'm going to a wedding at the end of September, I've sorted my outfit just about. However DM has mentioned that some guests will be wearing fascinators. I was not planning on putting anything on my head but I don't want to be the odd one out especially as I have made an effort on the dress front.
All of the wedding is in a hotel, so no need to worry about the weather, I am a cousin of the groom so not high profile. I haven't been to a wedding for yonks so not sure what's expected.
One of my reasons for not bothering is that I have very fine, straight hair that won't even hold grips in place. I was planning on washing it and brushing it as usual, it's a short bob with a fringe.

My question is do I need to wear something or not? I'm 45 if that makes a difference?

'Some guests' will be wearing fascinators. Which means some won't. If you'd rather not, don't bother. Wearing a hat/fascinator is not everyone's cup of tea. Enjoy the wedding!

Gawd, anything but a fascinator. They are hideous and utterly naff.

We went to a v posh wedding this summer and only the bride's mother wore something on her head (it was a hat, btw).

I don't entirely agree that all fascinators are naff.

If you do want to wear one, there are loads that come on hair bands, so don't worry about getting it to stay. But from what she said it doesn't sound mandatory at all

No, I was probably being unfair that all fascinators are naff.

But if they involve feathers, they could not be more passé.

I am pretty hopeless with accessories in general (I don't even have my ears pierced).

I'll have a google and see if there's anything more me out there. Since some come on a hairband it might be worth a try.
Thanks for your input though.

OP, what is your outfit like? We can try to find some options to consider?
