You know those Beauty Based Advent Calenders?

Yes I know it's August but these are quite ££ and some come out in November so I need to think ahead Smile

Are they worth it?
Did you find anything that you thought "Yes, this is something I'd buy again"

The Benefits one had things I've never tried and probably never would TBH though I love some Benefits products.

The Boots one had money off vouchers and I could share with DD.

Are they worth it, or just a novelty?

The Ciate nail varnish advent calendar has been good the last couple of years.

I saw the Ciate nail varnish ones from last year reduced in Tk Maxx last week and was very tempted

dexter73 · 29/08/2014 08:09

I got dd the Boots one last year but wouldn't bother again. There were a few sample sizes of perfumes and moisturisers which weren't very useful. The nail varnishes were good but not the weird hair bobble! I think I'll just get a chocolate one this year!

KateSpade · 29/08/2014 08:17

Why I didn't get one last year was beyond me? I am genuinely excited at the thought!

There was another couple of brands that did them, latest in beauty was one of them, although don't count me on it!

I remember the LIB one being around £70 though!...

I lusted after the Selfridges beauty one last year.

missmargot · 29/08/2014 09:22

I had the Selfridges calendar the first and second years they came out, the contents ere good value for money in terms of what you got, however they were very heavy on perfumes and eyeliner, neither of which I really use. Last year I bought the You Magazine calendar (gritted my teeth over the DM link) and was really pleased with it, great value for money and a wide range of products, e.g. full size Steam Cream, full size Stila lipgloss etc.

Liz Earle did an absolutely lovely one last year.

BakeOffQueen · 29/08/2014 14:13

You can get last years Ciate calendar here for £16.99.

I wanted a beauty one last year but couldn't decide which one to get and by the time I did, it was too late!

dexter73 · 29/08/2014 19:09

I tried to buy the Benefit calendar last year but it was sold out as soon as it went on sale. Maybe this year they will makle more of them, but I might get the Ciate one BakeOffQueen has linked to (thanksFlowers).
