Home gel manicure kit

I'm considering getting a kit to do gel nails at home - base, topcoat, colour and lamp. Has anyone taken the plunge? Any recommendations?

I've bought the sensationail ones for my daughter and niece, they love them and I'm currently wearing the results, it's lasting just as well as my usual Jessica I have done in the salon.

I bought the sensationail one when it was on offer. You can either get it at boots or directly from their site depending what offers are on.

I love it, use it every 3 weeks or so on my feet and every 7-14 days on my fingers. The only issue I've ever had is that it's a bit of a pain to remove but you can get different bases etc to try.

I've also got 1 of the gelish colours which works with the sensationail system but I find that it shrinks a lot when I put it on which I find too faffy so now I tend to stick to the sensationail ones.

I've had sensationail for 2 years but now use the lamp with gelish polish, base and top coat.

The only thing to remember is to remove it correctly (no picking !) or it will ruin your nails - I've worn gel polish constantly since I got the lamp & my nails are long and strong - something that they most definitively weren't before.

BTW I tend to stick with clear polish and use regular colour on top if I fancy a change - any chips don't show and I find that the regular nail varnish lasts loads longer this way ( used to only last 12 hours on me before)

I have the sensationail kit, buy cheap colours off eBay. I can't do it as neat as the salons nor does it last as long, but it's better than normal nail varnish. I really hate soaking it off, get back ache bending down. I've been using gel polishes for about 2 yrs, the last year been doing it myself, my nails are not great so now having a break and using nail envy. If I was going on holiday I would go to the salon for longer results. It's important to remove it correctly and not pick. I also think you should have a break so nails can recover.
