I need a winter coat

And I have no idea what I want!
I'm 22, have 20mo dd and 3 week old ds.. I need something practical for wearing all the time, preferably 'hard Wearing' that can be chucked in the wash, not necessarily water proof but at least water resistanty (just thick so I stay dry!) with a hood..

Budget £40 absolute max..

I want to be stylish.. I've seen this www.matalan.co.uk/mobile/womens/shop-by-category/coats-and-jackets/s2565638/borg-lined-parka which I like, as it's slightly longer (meaning I can bend over and not get a cold back!) but want to see if there is anything better out there.. Help please!!

watching

I've been looking for a decent winter coat this evening but too many "fashion" coats and not enough simple, classic styles/colours.

I really like that Matalan one! I spotted this on the M&S website but will wait for a 20% code: www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-faux-fur-hooded-parka/p/p22319123

I have found that Windsmoor do some really nice coats and are always in the sale at the major stores......worth a look........

I'm worried about looking like a sack tied around the middle, on both the matalan coat I linked and the m and s one they have those weird ties around the waist.. Am I missing something? Do you leave them loose? Tie them? chop them off?!

I wish I was fashionable :(

I saw the Matalan one instore, DD (aged 12 and a teeny size 6-8) loved it , so did I (I'm 48 and a sized 14-16 top half).

I didn't try it on (just bought a Uniqlo coat so didn't want to be tempted)
I don't like the fur TBH, not sure if it can be removed.
I'd give it a spray with a waterproofer and unleash my inner Feargal Sharkey Grin

Pull the waist ties a bit to give shape but don't tie then together.

I really like the boohoo one, but can't get over the niggle that it's the same as the matalan one but £5 more expensive... Does it warrant it? Sell it to me clure Wink

70 it gives me hope that your dd liked it and obviously you too... I worry I'm turning into a 90 yo granny with my clothing choices at the moment so I'm going to be frequenting style and beauty more frequently to try and dress better!!!

Pink - not sure I could sell it! The Matalan one looks very nice though haven't seen it in real life. all I can say is the boo hoo one fits nicely, I am petite and struggle to find coats that don't drown me! Its also quite warm and snuggle. The Matalan one looks a bargain though! Sorry not much help am I?

PinkAndBlueBedtimeBears · 26/08/2014 21:26

Aha that's fine, it's nice to have someone to just 'voice it out with' that isn't my dp ('err. It looks nice?') or 20mo dd ('babble babble shoooooes babble babble daddy..') !!
I might get the matalan one and keep it for a few days then try it on again, il either love it and rip the tags off and go skipping through a field of flowers or il umm over it, take it back, order the boohoo one and repeat the process!!

Now to find some winter shoes/ boots/ foot.... Coverings Hmm

Check out Uniqlo, Zara and Mango. Maybe this one? www.zara.com/es/es/mujer/abrigos/plumifero-entallado-cuello-pelo-c269183p1983308.html

Apologies. I think I had the same thing happen to me when someone else posted a link to a dress from Zara the other day. Hope you have found something you love. I never shop online for clothes either, I understand.
