Bootleg jeans - thoughts?

I have worn them since the 90s, then converted to skinnies, but I have a broad base and skinny legs, maybe I should go back to them? Having said that I can't actually find any at the moment - anyone spotted any?

Hmmm I would have thought next would be a safe bet, I've converted to skinnies as well and can't get past whether I have parsnip leg or not Confused

I compensate with boots Grin

I have really struggled with jeans since skinnies arrived (a long time now).

I wear slouchy boyfriend type jeans for very casual wear but am at a loss for the situations when I used to wear smart jeans, a nice top and heels.

Although slim, I am definitely not built for skinny jeans (typically size 10 chest and waist, size 14 around the thighs). Can't quite bring myself to do bootcut either. I am no fashion expert but even I can see they look dated.

Ha, yes, thatis an excellent way of describing it - parsnip legs. I think if I wear knee length boots they look fine as the chunkiness of the boot balances me out but anything else I do feel they are unflattering. So tricky. I don't have a natural flair for clothes, I asked or adviceon updating and skinnies were universally recommended, but I think I will go back. Not a fan of Next jeans though they tend to be quite high waisted.

I am bored to death of skinniest but wear them too. I also have straight leg jeans which are a good compromise.

It must be my age, but straight leg jeans look really frumpy to me, I think it's because when I was young only older women, trying to be like their daughters, wore jeans and if they did they wore straight leg. In those days most middle aged women wouldn't have worn jeans at all Shock

I am funny shaped to, size 6-8 and I can't do skinnies, if the fit my waist they cut off the circulation to my calfs and feet and if they fit my legs they fall down at the waist, I usually do bootlegs or boyfriends and usually from next, but they are a hit or a miss with sizing, I did get a nice pair from debenhams red herring range!

I love straight leg jeans - but they only fine in proper jeans brands now. So out of my budget.
Also, I gave some high waisted, bootcut/flared pepe jeans which I absolutely love! They're so flattering. I honestly think it's better to but a nice cut that suits you than being uncomfortable in skinnies.

And when I get 'boyfriend' jeans, I just get the plainest ones from the men's section in New Look.
Those ones that are made for women look hideous on me

I love bootleg jeans. I got many compliments wearing a pair of black bootleg cords from next. They are very flattering.

They are expensive £100 odd pounds but they are flattering to a pear shape like me. They seem to do something fantastic to your hips. They are louvboot.

I wear bootlegs because I look crap in skinny jeans as I have ginormous calves. I can occasionally get a decent pair of straight leg jeans but they are usually skinnies by a different name. As long as the flarey bit isn't too flarey they look good. You should buy the jeans that suit you. Too many people in skinnies or boyfriend that look horrendous.

I agree with tobia. I hate the carrot leg look!! [fat at the top and thin at the bottom] highly unflattering.

I agree with the poster that said they compensate and provide balance with boots and skinnies. Totally agree. I wear them mostly in winter. They are practical as they can be tucked into boots.

I've never really managed to do skinny jeans, my knees aren't straight (knees turn in) and my thighs are sturdy so skinnies just make me look hugely pear shaped. Bootcut are also unflattering on me, like I have egg timer shaped legs.

Slim straight leg is as skinny as I've managed, and that's where I'm staying as they suit me! I see jeans as more of a classic staple than a fashion item anyway.
