Any ideas where to buy these days?
100% pissed off that the vast majority of shops seem to now be selling gowns out of that fluffy viscose stuff that's like nails down a blackboard when I touch it. (And zero absorbency which is surely the whole bloody point!)
Want a simple kimono style - NO shawl collar, NO hood and ffs NO stupid embroidery! (I'm 52 not 12!!)
The White Company was where I bought my last, but no more.

Bought my mum a lovely proper towelling robe in Debenhams a couple of years back. It was John Rocha I think.

It was an emergency purchase as she’d asked my dad to get her a nice towelling robe and he’d bought her a fairly naff fluffy dressing gown instead Hmm.

They have a decent looking plain white one here

Yes Delorme - totally worth the money. Wash well and luxurious.

domesticslattern · 01/08/2018 22:47

Marks does them... I was fondling one yesterday in store. They do one for thirty quid www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-towelling-dressing-gown/p/p60158213?carousel=FUNH_AT_REFER
and another Autograph one for twice the price (but it has a sodding hood)

I bought one when I was in Rome last year (not very helpful I know), but I wish I had got one a size too big. My previous one had been that size - a sale bargain - and now I realise I loved the fact it wrapped all the way round. Perfect on cold mornings. My new one looks better, but isn't as cosy.

Lands End do good cotton towelling dressing gowns, for example:

And 31% off at the moment...

La redoute do a few different styles and colours. www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-324214910.aspx

I have been looking for ages! hate those fleecy ones.It feels ugh! when you wrap your damp self in one.

macnab · 31/10/2018 15:47

Definitely lots on Amazon, like this one for example

Alwayscheerful · 31/10/2018 16:31

MUJI used to sell them.

Peraltiago · 31/10/2018 16:59

I KNEW my people were out there! I HATE those viscose fluffy dressing gowns and they're everywhere! The whole point of a dressing gown/bathrobe is to dry you after a bath, the fluffy ones just get soggy, and feel so cheap. I have to get mine online now, I see people hve recommended good links.

My current robe is a souvenir one from Caesars Palace spa in Las Vegas - black with gold trim, and 100% cotton. It may not be entirely tasteful, but it's a proper terry robe Grin.

Sadik · 31/10/2018 17:22

Try googling organic cotton bath robes - people who want organic generally want plain thick cotton terry IME. This one looks good for example. (I covet this one although it does have a hood.)

sanitygirl · 01/11/2018 12:43

King of Cotton do loads www.kingofcotton.com/section.php/59/1/bathrobes

jessicabrodie123 · 01/11/2018 14:03

@hannah459 I agree I always went to the The White Company for my bathrobes however the quality has got significantly worse over the years. So had to do some research of where to get my new one. I bought a bathrobe from the reach London which I'm in absolute love with. Full length and lovely and warm! I bought mine off a site called myza www.myza.co/shop/sleepwear-nightwear/robes?brand=86

Bloomcounty · 01/11/2018 14:14

I bought mine on Amazon last year (I know, I know, but it was one of the few places I could find them).

Loads of nice colours too. I went for burgundy, and a massive man sized one so I can wrap myself up snuggly as soon as I turn the water off in the shower. I don't use a towel, just the robe, and shove it in a hot wash regularly.
