I love it but dd is refusing to be seen with me if I buy it - apparently it's a granny coat. I'm loving it but I don't want to make an expensive mistake because she'll groan in teenager style every time I wear it. Hmm

Ooo it's not sounding good tbh. That's a look that might be best left to the very young who are pulling it off ironically iyswim.

noddyholder · 22/08/2014 16:20

Love it

hellsbellsmelons · 22/08/2014 16:20

I agree with PP - step away from the coat.
And at that price!
Blimey - find one similar in a charity shop and then embarass your DD.

ToysRLuv · 22/08/2014 16:36

Nice, vintagey.

TSSDNCOP · 22/08/2014 16:41

This shape coat is everywhere this winter. I love it with a black roll neck, black skinny leg trousers and loafers.

maybemyrtle · 22/08/2014 16:51

I love it but it's far too expensive if you're unsure.

cardamomginger · 22/08/2014 17:17

Would have to see it on to see how it hangs. Need to get a feel for the fabric as well. From your description of your style it sounds like it could work for you. Could go either way TBH. Think it is worth ordering and trying (and maybe also in a size smaller than you usually wear, just in case).

thelmachicken · 22/08/2014 17:19

I love it! But can't afford it. Envy

Luxaroma · 22/08/2014 17:26

I have tried it on and loved it but dd was so horrified. We have very different styles - she's classic, conservative....plays it safe and I'm always trying to encourage her to be a bit more brave. It's meant to be the other way around isn't it?

My last impulse buy was a bad one... A coat from all saints - it looked great with what I was wearing that day but when I got it home I realised I couldn't wear a jumper under it and sizing up just made the coat look hideous. I can't afford another screw up! Because now I have a hefty credit note for All Saints as the buggers don't do refunds and mostly I'm not too keen on their clothes.

They don't do refunds? That's outrageous! Then again, they usually have v lovely bikers....

lurkingaround · 22/08/2014 17:39

I like.

cardamomginger · 22/08/2014 17:40

Really like that All Saints coat. Can see that sizing up would have been a problem.

Luxaroma · 22/08/2014 17:42

I know I usually check the refunds thing before buying but I was distracted at the time - big mistake. I have a biker already and I don't wear it enough to justify a second one.

I can picture someone in that with fifties hair, a red bandana, red lips and heels. They would have an edgy fifties rock style.

Otherwise I'd agree with your dd .

Deverethemuzzler · 22/08/2014 17:46

I would wear it and I am very cool Grin

However I would not pay nearly £300 for it nor would I let a teenager dictate to me regarding my clothes Shock

Greengardenpixie · 22/08/2014 17:47

Imo this is nicer:

Luxaroma · 22/08/2014 17:53

I would go as far as to say that dd dictates my wardrobe Grin but I do ask her opinion, I enjoy sharing clothing choices with her....it's a shared interest. Is that weird? My dmum always got us to help her choose clothes too.

Luxaroma · 22/08/2014 17:55

Green I'm staying clear of navy - I have 2 already....I don't really need a coat, I love coats and shoes and I just fancy a change!

OP posts:
Deverethemuzzler · 22/08/2014 17:57

No its not weird and its nice that you share.
But if you like something and you think it suits you, don't let anyone tell you that you shouldn't wear it.

Its probably one of the very few things that I have always stood up for myself about. Brings out the Grrrrrr in me if someone tells me what I should or shouldn't wear.

As you can imagine, my teenage years were somewhat fraught Grin

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 22/08/2014 17:57

If it looks as bad as that on the Toast model. ....

Deverethemuzzler · 22/08/2014 17:59

That style is all over the high street at the moment. If you want something for a quick fix why not try looking a bit lower down the market?

I am getting twitchy for a new coat but I can't bear getting rid of the old ones and they take up so much room!

Luxaroma · 22/08/2014 18:07

But it's all in good humour with dd....its just a bit of light hearted banter.

All the clothes look crap on the Toast models - you just can't tell what's going to suit.
