Good shops for a petite pear shape?

Just that, really. I'm 5'1 and a pear shape . If I find jeans that fit my hips I need a belt. Skirts can either fit waist (and stretch horribly over the hips) or fit hips and bag around my waist. Surely, surely, there will be shops out there that cater to this? Or perhaps there are particular cuts or fabrics I should be looking for instead?

(I'm not sure if hourglass fit would help either? I'm 41"/34"/45" - is that properly a pear shape even? Either way, I can't find clothes that fit! )

Kitten was helping me type: I think I caught most of it; apologies if not!

For jeans, I buy fitting hipster jeans. It might be a little loose around the waist but doesn't bag. Which is more comfortable anyway. I have to alter the length because they would be too long.

I mostly wear dresses, so that obviates any issue of a waistband.

If I wear a skirt or trousers, they are fitting and sit more on my hips than waist. At my height I don't think elasticated waists and swishy skirts work.

I am also a petite pear (4ft 11 - slim but massive bum Grin ). Don't bother with next at the moment. I have tried on so many pairs of trousers in there recently and the thighs are too slim, waist massive. Gap are good and I have had success with topshop petite cigarette trousers. I find skirts impossible unless they are tulip/full shape. I have some nice ones from warehouse and Oasis that fit at the waist and have room for my bum. Recently I have realised that skinny jeans aren't that flattering on me Angry . I still wear the ones I have but I think skirts/dress with tights and ankle boots looks better. I have never tried asos petite but am tempted by their tailored peg trousers at the moment and I have just ordered a bargainous fur lined parka from their petite range (£30 reduced from £75).

I feel your pain though. Being short is bad enough without being a pear tooSmile

I shall try out the hipster cuts, and the TopShop ones, cheers. And I think the best pair of jeans I ever had were from gap, I only gave up on them as the sizing is a bit all over the place. I'll try them again, hopefully persistence will pay off!

Skinnies definitely don't work on me, but I think straight legs are ok ( I hope! I keep having bootcuts suggested to me but not so keen.

I think you both are probably right about the dresses/skirts - I got a couple of A line skirts from Kettlewell and they are very nice. I need to find boots to go with them.

I am pear shaped also (though a bit taller than OP), and have come to accept that I must usually have trousers/jeans altered in the waist and length. Now, I simply buy a shape that is flattering (usually bootcut - whether fashionable or not, it suits my shape), and have them tailored to fit. And because the alterations can be a bit pricey, I often buy 'good' quality that will last a few years.
