i want to invest in some good cardigans and jumpers this year , i have saved up so as to avoid the one year wonders i usually end up with . i saw this www.thewhitecompany.com/clothing/knitwear/cardigans/cashmere-waterfall-cardigan--dark-charcoal-marl/ in the shop and it seemed really nice but ...waterfall cardigans.. i know they have been deemed frumpy and i have never bought one before . should i avoid ? i am 5ft 1 and a size 8 if that matters at all
any other suggestions ?

I am fussy about knitwear & prefer to wear only merino, lambswool, cashmere or cotton/silk blends.

TK Maxx is excellent for knits but you will either need patience for regular visits or have a look online.

Waterfall cardis can look ok but depends how they are styled. Chunkier waterfall knits can be styled with a nod to Isabel Marant to avoid frump. I have a navy merino version which I secure with a belt at the waist & then drape in a Vivienne Westwood style.

Forgot to say that the proportions of the White Company cardi would be fine with your height but I probably wouldn't go for anything longer.

Lots of people recommend wool lovers on here if you can ignore the bad photography.

I have just bought 3 cardis from gap that I am really pleased with.

I agree TK Maxx has great ones for great prices. You just have to pop in all the time as stock varies so much. Good luck!

Edinburgh Woollen Mill's cashmere washes and wears beautifully (if you can get through the door without feeling old, make a beeline for the cashmere - usually near the till and don't stop to look at any polyester jackets...)

Bought a black cotton cardi in Gap. Great stuff. Wish I'd bought the jewel pink one too... And the grey merino grandad one. Waterfall wouldn't suit me. But I've had a couple of knee length numbers, from Avoca, that looked good over dresses.
I get most of mine in Benetton. Am a TK girl, but I didn't know about their cardis. Must investigate!

Waterfall caddies are out? Oh bugger. I always thought it was the button up round neck ones which looked mumsy...
