Help me oh wise ones….

I have a party to go to next week and everything I own just seems…. wrong. I am a curvy girl which instantly makes everything seem too dressed up and I really am at a loss as to what to wear.

The party is all day - afternoon tea followed by dinner and dancing so I guess like a wedding but perhaps not as formal (I have two weddings coming up so multi purpose would be great)

I am thinking Olivia Palermo when she's at her effortless best… That kind of thrown on yet beautiful look that you see on trendy types at 'society' weddings.

this is the closest thing I have found but I may well have bra issues with the back and wish it was navy….

these lovelies in nude on on their way so, after splurging on them, the dress I linked to is absolute top of budget.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received!!!

Wow ladies - I went to bed early and it seems you have all been working through the night!!!

Some lovely links -
Families - love the Balenciaga but way over budget. I really like the J Crew one as well but I just can't get over their UK pricing - it is listed at $225 on the US site which is £134 Shock as opposed to £298 Shock Shock - it just pisses me off so much!!!

I like the Ganni but think I would probably look like a sack of potatoes in in…. My definite favourite is the last VW that Kristina linked to… I am fairly certain that I have that exact same dress but with sleeves (well at least the same colour and very similar shape) Maybe at my age (39) I should stick to what I know works???

Fcuk - I agree with you about OP - I have just chopped my very long hair to my shoulders aiming for her style but, funnily enough, it requires serious blow drying to look anywhere close!!! Maybe I need to put a photo of my three lovely children on to my mirror to remind myself why I don't look like her daily!!

Belinda love the blog by the way Smile

In other news though, this arrived yesterday - part of my effort to try something new!!! I adore it and feel like a princess wearing it. In theory it is for a wedding in September but I have a tiny feeling that it will remain at the back of the wardrobe with a gorgeous Emerald green pleated skirt from Reiss that I bought 5 years ago and have never worn…. Anyone else find skirts really hard??

Oh, that's a lovely skirt petit! I don't find skirts hard as such, more that needing shoes / tights / top all to be wearable on the same day sometimes eludes my organisational skills, so a dress is easier

Fcukfifa · 16/08/2014 13:21

Petit, she is near enough perfect, I'm pretty sure her hair is just naturally thick and shiny and bouncy

I love love love that skirt, it is seriously amazing! Will there be the same people at the party as the wedding you was planning to wear the skirt to?
Could you try and wear it for the party first? What top was you planning on wearing with it?

I have skirt envy!

Fcukfifa · 16/08/2014 13:23

I prefer wearing seperates when I go out so usually a skirt and top or shorts and top. I think it gives a more edgier feel than just a dress. But I do find it costs a lot more buying two or three seperates rather just one dress, however you can then mix and match :)

No crossover of people but I think that the skirt might be a bit ott for the party… I tried it on with my DVF Bentley top which looked lovely (again, I need a fitted torso) but I only have it in black and I don't think they do other colours. It's fab on - very Dior New Look (shame I'm not a side 8 Grin )

Thanks petitdonkey Smile

That LKBennett skirt is divine. I've seen a photo of Caroline Issa in it, wearing it w a blue shirt, sleeves rolled up, slightly undone. So, it looks versatile. The shape and the print are incredible. Ladylike at it's best. It might need to be shortened to suit some people ie me, though.
