Hair disaster!!!

Ok, so whoever recommended the L'oreal Preference highlight kit clearly forgot to mention that you need to have some kind of coordination or even a slight bit of artistic flair to use it. I have now ended up with bright yellow hair with yucky brown/black roots every now and again! So tomorrow am thinking a box of light brown/dark blonde hair dye will need to be purchased, but how long do I have to leave it before covering up the mess????!!

I'd put a semi on it tomorrow.
Good luck!

Oh, that happened to me as well once.

Please be aware that you may end up with a greenish hue if you put brown hair colour over bleached blonde. Do a strand test first.

Or try a silvery purple rinse to counteract the yellow/orange colour and get to a more ashy blonde.

Or bleach again until you get to a white blonde. When bleaching hair goes from brown through all the red orangey hues to yellow to white.

I do not want bleached hair! It's way too light and I want to tone it down. A silver/grey wash is a gold idea, thank you. Will be buying a box of semi today though, I just can't go around with yellow/orange hair!!!!!

Get a very cheap red dye and put that on first but only like a shampoo (dont have to leave it develop, its just to make sure you get the red tones back in your hair) then put which ever colour of brown/blond you want on. That will stop any nasty greenness happening.

Thanks for advice. Have bought a box of colour b4, will do that this morning and put on a light ash blonde. Argh! Why can't I be a natural brunette, life would be so much easier!

Fucks sake! I've bought the wrong colour b4 (for dark instead of light) and I can't get back to the shop for at least 2 hours. Fuuuuuck!!!

I used this & followed instructions- it does say use sparingly at roots, so hardly applied it there, and concentrated on the ends, and a little bit in the fringe, golden not brassy highlights on mid brown hair, really pleased with thit, mind u Im used to colouring and I do cut me own hair too, cheapskate that I am and I hate going to the hairdressers!!!!!!!!!

mrssnodge · 14/08/2014 15:08

Mamma, I have had some disasters mind, running to late night supermarket with a baseball cap on!

I found this loreal preference easy as its a brush on thing, no caps, foils etc, but i did only leave mine on for 25 mins, maybe yrs was on too long?
You can cover it straightaway with another semi or permanent , hope it turns out ok . Best of luck

Thanks mrssnodge, I ended up putting a light ash blonde on and it's toned it right down. Looks much more natural and have already had several people commenting on how nice it looks, so got there in the end! :)

And yes I definately need more practice with the highlighting brush....
