Backless bra

Just bought a beautiful halter neck dress that is backless to the waist line. What shall I do about a bra? I need one (preferably a padded one).

What size are you? Backless bras are a bit useless if you're anything over a C cup, from my experience. But you can get them with the clear sticky panels at each side and they're very sticky so should stay in place (never tried them though, due to huge boobs!)

You can also get the silicone ones that stick on everywhere, but I've only ever seen them go up to a DD cup.

If you're DD+ there aren't many backless bras but you can get them with a clear back strap, although obviously you can still see that if you look closely enough.

Is the back a slight dip or a very low back? If it's the former you could try a low back converter which attaches to a normal bra, wraps round the stomach to pull the back down and then attaches to the other side of the bra.

M&S do bras with clear pladtic straps and backs. It can also be converted to a cross back

Sorry just reread and saw you said the top was backless down to your waist, so a low back converter probably won't be any good!

I'm a meagre 34 AA

Are you sure that's your correct size? Have you been fitted? I say that just because it's very very rare for someone with a 34 back to have an AA cup. In 4 years as a bra fitter I've never had anyone that size. You could try looking at the bra thread that I think is a sticky thread on Fashion and beauty? It teaches you how to properly measure yourself and most people find that their back size is too big and their cup size is too small. Or you could get fitted in any bra shop other that m&S ?

If you definitely are a 34AA I think you'll really struggle finding a bra that size, I know in the place I work we don't sell that size.

You could try:

^hoping I have done that link correctly, it's been a while!

Right last Christmas I was bought a backless dress and needed a bra.

In the end I came across an old bra that used to have clear plastic straps but the straps had broken off. I cut the back off and sewed the bra into the dress so in effect I had support at the front.

It is nowhere near as supportive as a "real bra" but works in this circumstance.
