Painting on gel paint?

That's it really. I had a gel polish on Wednesday and it perfect. I just hate the colour! Can I paint over it with ordinary nail polish?

I was told I could do it if they grow too much in between applications. I've only had them done a week ago so I haven't needed to check this out yet.

Do u like the colour? I liked the colour on the little template thing but now it's on my nails it's got glitter through it and a bit too bling for me.

The colour is fine. It's very, very natural. I was hoping for something shiny and a bit more blingy but the beautician disagreed with me. She said my nails were too short and it wouldn't look right. That I could now grow them better underneath this shell and next time they may be long enough for colour. I deferred to her expertise :)

Now I've had one week without biting my nails.

Yes you can paint on top of gel polish. Just make sure if you remove the normal polish that you use acetone free remover as acetone is what removes the gel.
I'm surprised the technician told you what colour to have! They should give advice on nail health and care but not colour because that's just your personal taste and choice.

Thanks for the tip re acetone-free remover. I didn't mind the technician telling me what to do. As it happens, I was on holiday abroad and I suppose it's partly a cultural difference, I went with it :)

I meant cultural difference in technician being opinionated. Plenty of garish colours where I went!!

Thank god! Was at a health board meeting last night and my sparkly nails where seriously out of place lol.
