Rough exfoliating with no nuts or microspheres

Hello

My DH is allergic to nuts and I've just realised that my St Ives Apricot scrub contains ground nut shells, which might be triggering his bad eczema. But they all seem to contain nuts. Salt ones just aren't rough enough for me. I don't feel buffed. I have KP so really need to find an alternative but no luck so far. Can anyone help?

Have you tried the exfoliating pads?....they can be used with any face wash. Boots do a synthetic one, Body Shop has natural loofa type.

Tropic skincare do one that's sugar based. They sell through reps or online. It's very good but a bit pricey.

I have a rough sponge from tesco that works well.
Currently out of stock but you get the idea.

Home bargains do a pack of 3 massage sponges which are absolutely brilliant at exfoliating

Grind aduki beans and use those?

Do you use a urea-containing lotion for the KP? You can buy handwashes with pumice - would they work? I think mine is from Crabtree and Evelyn.

Binkybix · 10/08/2014 11:44

Thanks for the ideas! I also tend to find sugar ones to not be rough enough, and prefer a scrub that I can wash off than a loofah etc. but maybe loofah/mitt is the way to go. Pumice sounds interesting, will check it out.

Origins do one. Really pricey, but a small tube lasts got several years.

Modern Friction.

MrsDavidBowie · 10/08/2014 11:53

Dermalogica Daily microexfolient

LordEmsworth · 10/08/2014 12:45

I have both Origins Modern Friction, and Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant.

Both are excellent and give me lovely glowiness, but Modern Friction has the edge in satisfying scrubby texture - you put it on dry skin then wet, so it's proper scrubby. They also do a body version I think...

Aesop is lovely - hand scrub, body scrub and facial exfoliating scrub. But pricey.

Dermaflannel?

Or why don't you try and make your own sugar scrub. Maybe the branded ones are too fine. Heck of a lot cheaper. Just mix some sugar and oil together. To whatever consistency you like with whatever sugar and oil you like. Does the same job and you can be 100% sure of the ingredients.

rubybleu · 10/08/2014 15:56

Also rec Origins Modern Friction. Fab stuff.

Try mixed granulate sugar and olive oil. Works a treat
