Are these shoes acceptable with a dress? or are they frumpy?

these ones

Before you all die laughing at a hush puppies link, I find it so hard to walk in high heels, and when I go out, I end up wearing flats. I need something that gives me a lift but that I can walk in. I do have to be able to walk in them. Can't emphasise that bit enough.

ok, though, tell me the truth as hard as it may be to hear it.

I would need a zimmer frame to walk in these asos shoes here

Grand with a dress I'd say.

I rarely wear high heels either (though that has more to do with being 6 foot)

lynniep · 05/08/2014 16:51

they are a bit uber-frump. sorry.

Laska42 · 05/08/2014 16:51

Acceptable i think (though I am over 50, although i think pretty sylish ) but other younger ones may not think so

ElizabethArdenGreenTeax · 05/08/2014 16:52

I wouldn't bother trying if I were six foot. But I look even shorter IN A DRESS. I'd just walk with the feet god gave me and feel relieved.

sstill uber frump for a 40 something?

less frumpy than wearing nice but flat shoes with a dress?

OP posts:
lynniep · 05/08/2014 16:56

are you specifically after closed toe?

SinglePringle · 05/08/2014 16:57

Um... They are not exactly stylish. I think they resemble little girls shoes and I'm not a fan of shoes like that. What about these?

dunmopin · 05/08/2014 17:01

possibly depends on dress? Eg if a pleated skirt or something might be a bit... Camilla? But I am in no way entitled to even be in this section, just excited by the Hush Puppies link as I had some ankle boots once and they were amazingly comfortable, might have to get another pair
ps the imagery pumps don't look too high

mom1983 · 05/08/2014 17:06

I think they are frumpy too, sorry.
How about a low court. Clarks online have a huge selection, less likely to wreck your feet too!

cromwell44 · 05/08/2014 17:14

Well I like them and think they'd look good with autumn/winter work wardrobe tweed skirts, opaque and to make a change from boots. Perhaps a bit librarian chic.
Nice alternative to teetering around in courts.

itsbetterthanabox · 05/08/2014 17:22

I have a pair very similar. They are cute, I wear with a skater dress.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/08/2014 17:28

Those LKB ones are some of the ugliest shoes I have ever seen, sorry.

OP ones aren't the nicest thing I've ever seen, but as black shoes go they are pretty inoffensive. I only think they'd work with black or grey though, not colour.

ElizabethArdenGreenTeax · 05/08/2014 17:32

Those lkb ones are way too high for me. Would end up in A&E

ElizabethArdenGreenTeax · 05/08/2014 17:33

Librarian chic! Lol. That is the look im trying to pull off.

A taller librarian, steady on her feet.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/08/2014 17:41

I take it back. These are the ugliest shoes I have ever seen.

grumblepuss · 05/08/2014 18:01

Work or play?
Work: they're fine, not exciting but will do the job.

Play: there are nicer low heel options.

WitchWay · 05/08/2014 18:02

They look like a calliper, Remus!

OP - horrible, sorry

Greengardenpixie · 05/08/2014 18:20

I dont dislike the ones you have linked but wouldnt buy them... i have these and they are much nicer!!!

tethersend · 05/08/2014 18:26

I think a nice pair of flats would look better than those, OP.

If heels hurt, don't wear them!

These are nice.

Lucked · 05/08/2014 18:32

They look like a school/work shoe.

Wedges are a good idea.

There are loads of various heights. Do you need a strap?

ElizabethArdenGreenTeax · 05/08/2014 18:39

work or play? Well, Play!

A nice pair of flats would leave me feeling very short.
I like those carvela ones! Not the patent ones, the first ones.

I like those fly ones but there's no way I could wear those with a dress!

Remus you're right, those shoes are whatever they are, awful!!

tethersend · 05/08/2014 19:07

Esska shoes are very comfy.

tethersend · 05/08/2014 19:10

So are camper

tassisssss · 05/08/2014 19:13

The things with asking MN of course is that the super-trendy-20-somethings might not like them, but if you're 40ish, do you care?

I say get them.

I had gorgeous patent gabor ones that weren't at all fashionable but super comfy for work and i need a replacement. I'm so over caring about fashion...
