Are these shoes acceptable with a dress? or are they frumpy?

these ones

Before you all die laughing at a hush puppies link, I find it so hard to walk in high heels, and when I go out, I end up wearing flats. I need something that gives me a lift but that I can walk in. I do have to be able to walk in them. Can't emphasise that bit enough.

ok, though, tell me the truth as hard as it may be to hear it.

I liked the ones in your link I live in DMs and Converse though so they're about a thousand times more 'feminine' than what I wear. Grin

Greengardenpixie · 05/08/2014 19:18

They look great with a dress, a skirt you name it!!! I wear them with everything [ my fly london!! that is!]

ouryve · 05/08/2014 19:21

If you like them, then they're fine. Some arbitrary idea of "acceptable" shouldn't even feature in your decision.

eitherwaythatway · 05/08/2014 19:23

Fly London heels are really comfortable and easy to walk in Smile

I don't think the ones in the OP are at all okay for play; would be okay for work. Really, really dislike those Fly ones, sorry.

By, 'Play' do you mean walking around the park, or going to the pub in the evening?

FamiliesShareGerms · 05/08/2014 19:50

I don't mind the shoes at all, OP. They're not the most exciting, but I've seen plenty uglier

rootypig · 05/08/2014 19:51

Mid heels and flat shoes are really fashionable at the moment.

Here's a recent Guardian gallery for some far lovelier ideas than the Hush Puppies (yes they are frump - it's not the height, it's the round toe in a black shoe and the mini buckle and superfluous strap, none of which will flatter you in the least)

bigTillyMint · 06/08/2014 02:49

Dont like them OP and Im nearly 50! I love some of the Clarks ones though. just need them in a colour to go with my navy 50s style dress.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2014 11:17

Rooty - must admit that I think all of those are really ugly, far worse than the ones in the OP!

hellsbellsmelons · 06/08/2014 13:10

These are OK.
I was looking for some low-ish shoes.
I wear heels all the time but when working behind a bar it just can't be done.
These are comfy.

Oy! I'm mid 40's and I care.
Cheek of it!

SinglePringle · 06/08/2014 13:18

Rooty shoes 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8 in that Guardian link are bloody lovely! So nice to see pretty shoes and they make the ones in the OP seem even more...um... dull.

Fairylea · 06/08/2014 13:22

Flat shoes, especially pointy with a slingback are very fashionable right now. I'd go for some of those over trying to kill yourself wearing a heel anyday!

rootypig · 06/08/2014 13:36

Remus and Pringle Grin Grin

To each her own. Not all the ones in the Guardian link are ones I like - though none comes close to the OP's pair, which are just dull, agree Pringle, and just dumpy.

BikeRunSki · 06/08/2014 13:47

I would wear them for work, but not going out. T&E only heels I can wear are wedges, and wear a lot of white Stuff wedges as their generous 8 fits me well.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2014 17:14

Fairy - I've spent weeks trying to find a pair like you describe, and can't find a single pair I actually like. Please help! Want either black or tan.

Fairylea · 06/08/2014 17:17

I've seen a few on next and also on boden and even new look ! I will try and link to some later when ds aged 2 isn't running rampage :)

Fairylea · 06/08/2014 17:25

Hmm just had a quick look and they aren't there anymore! How frustrating. I'll have a better browse later.... on a mission now. :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2014 17:48

Thank you. :) Need to be a real life shop; cba with online.

ElizabethArdenGreenTeax · 06/08/2014 17:53

Some of the shoes linked as less frumpy alternatives are really truly too frumpy for me!! Like the ekssa and thos camper ones!
I like camper for casual though.
I will buy them if they're not gone!!

So strange how people have different ideas and different tastes. Some of the things that are posted on the S&B are my idea of ugliness and yet to some they are seen as beautiful. So weird really.

lurkingaround · 06/08/2014 18:54

I like a lot of those sandals in the Guardian link!

Sorry OP, I don't like those shoes.

Fairylea · 06/08/2014 19:10

Fairylea · 06/08/2014 19:11
