so finally bought a Ilse Jacobsen coat and the lady in the shop said they could be washed as normal but the label says to use specialist products so am assuming it would be something like Nikwax

So can I ask - how do you wash it?

Thanks

Hi Chablis, I haven't washed mine yet but had a quick look at the washing instructions which state that machine washing inside out on a gentle cold cycle should do the trick. I would email Ilse Jacobsen directly about which kind of detergent they recommend though as I see from the label where you are coming from. Good luck!

I have an Arcteryx jacket (which I haven't washed yet) but the shop where I bought it said mild soap flakes or Nikwax, and no conditioners to protect the waterproofing. That's what I have used on my washable Barbour and a Cocoon raincoat, fairly successfully; that is, both are still rainproof after several washes.

Thanks for the replies

Will try emailing them or a uk based stockist.

If in doubt I think I'll do the technical wash as would hate to have to try to reproof it
