I'm not that much of a regular. I probably do 3-4 purchases a year, half of which are for DS! The last thing I bought myself was the jumbo cord skirt last a/w!

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2014 19:34

I'm even more miffed now then! Grin

I saw this skirt (attached pic) in the September edition of Marie Claire. It's from the new Mango Mii range. Is this the same one? It didn't look that short on the page!

I do fancy the idea of a leather skirt for A/W.

smile yes, we'll help you.

I love this from Baukjen. They're offering it at 15% off but it's still too rich for my blood!

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2014 19:41

Ooh, popping over to the MNV thread. Thanks.

MrPop · 05/09/2014 19:41

I'm another who never gets Boden codes or discount vouchers, harumph. Sorrel I would consider emailing them to complain if you are a regular shopper there. I actually haven't bought anything since the beginning of the year so they would probably laugh in my face.

But - if I did have a voucher I think I would buy this breton in the pink. Is it wintery enough?

Wondered about this sparkle collar breton with the silver collar, could the darker colour stripe be a match for mole??

And then this dress is chinese blue I think? Not a colour I have, so would be tempted.

I like leather skirts, though don't really have the lifestyle to wear one. Do you want one in that shape?

SmileAndNod · 05/09/2014 19:43

I also have a voucher - £15. I tend to buy mostly for the children from boden or Breton tops . Could do with some long sleeve t shirts but none of the colours grab me. Really want to spend it on something..

MrPop basically I look a state. There is nothing I like about the way I look. My hair is falling out again, my roots need doing, I feel flat and dull. I am very boring when it comes to clothes - nothing edgy for me. I wear too many stripes. Have skinny jeans, bootcut, straight but none are quite right. Can't do ankle boots or ballet pumps. In winter I wear old Clark's brown boots, skinny jeans and bum covering top (too wide to wear short tops with those I think)..

QueenCardigan · 05/09/2014 19:45

smile the tees in fatface in either phantom (dark grey) or Bordeaux are good winter colours.

SmileAndNod · 05/09/2014 19:49

Pressed post too soon. I can't even think who id like to look like, whose dress sense I admire. Bit limited to shops here but if I could afford it and I had somewhere to wear it, I suppose I like hobbs / jigsaw type clothes.

Sadly my day consists of school runs and washing so no need to look nice Hmm

QueenCardigan · 05/09/2014 19:49

Meant to add that I have the lace front top in phantom but the Bordeaux is a lovely colour. mrpop I really like the colour of that blue dress.

QueenCardigan · 05/09/2014 19:52

mrpop my worry with the pink Breton is that it says magenta/ivory...

OP posts:
QueenCardigan · 05/09/2014 19:57

smile I never find many winter colours in white stuff and I don't rate the quality of their tees and knitwear although I love their skirts and blouses. This scarf is nice though.

QueenCardigan · 05/09/2014 20:00

smile just read your last post. My day consists of school run and washing too. I think it's easy to get caught in the trap of not bothering to wear nice clothes when you've got nowhere to wear them too but it certainly makes me feel better to make an effort. Often I'll get dressed for the school run and come home and change into my housework clothes (if I'm doing full on kitchen/bathroom/mopping type stuff) and then get changed again for the afternoon run.

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2014 20:02

Maybe I don't get vouchers because I send nearly everything back? Grin

I like pencil skirts but struggle to get them to fit both my waist and my hips (I suppose I could get it tailored).

QueenCardigan I like this one that libertychick linked to on the MNV thread. I can't really justify the spend (even though it's reduced!). It's a shame as the shape and embroidery fit with my Romantic/Classic rules. The Hobbs one is very nice too, classic shape. The French Connection one is lovely as well. I can see a shopping trip to Southampton looming!

MrPop · 05/09/2014 20:07

That Temperley one is lovely. Have you considered pleather, it would be a lot cheaper - or somewhere like asos might do cheap ish leather.

Smile I am also in the school run and washing camp. I actually like the 'school run' uniform of jeans and a breton.

Will have a look on white stuff and fat face.

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2014 20:09

I've got to limit my spending as I'm off to London later this month with a friend for a day's shopping. First of all we're hitting Bravissmo on Oxford St so I can get her boobs sorted (wearing a 34A but more like a 28DD). Then we're on a mission to find the perfect pair of jeans. I think Selfridges Denim Studio is on the list but there's somewhere else (can't remember the name of the woman) where she looks at you and then brings you the perfect pair of both casual and smart jeans. I really want something in dark denim/black for AW that makes me look tiny (natch!). My friend is having her Colours done soon so I'm excited to see what she turns out to be. I don't think she'll be a Winter though!

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2014 20:11

Smile My A/W uniform when not at the office (I mostly work from home) is skinny jeans, Ash Jalouse boots, blazer and a Breton top!

MrPop Pleather is not an issue although of course now I've seen the Temperley one...

SmileAndNod · 05/09/2014 20:14

I sent back the magenta Breton yesterday. It wasn't a white stripe but not too bad, but it was very similar to a magenta stripe vest I already have. I must stop buying stripes!

I picked up those tees today queen cardigan but my last fat face tee was too tight around my fat arms so I was a bit put off by that. Had two dcs with me today so no time to try on.

What kind of thing do you wear for the school run, if you don't mind me asking queencardigan ?

MrPop · 05/09/2014 20:21

This dress looks a nice colour, could be worn with leggings / tights, knee high boots as a casual look that is also comfortable but not jeans + stripe top.

A match for carmine?

Like these as an alternative to jeans.

The fat face website is not very user friendly. Couldn't get to grips with it.

MrPop · 05/09/2014 20:22

I think it is Donna Ida, Sorrel - sounds like a good trip planned!

SmileAndNod · 05/09/2014 20:30

Oh and did I mention I need easy access for feeding Blush

Quite like those white stuff chinos for a change, but wonder what would I wear on my feet? I think I literally need someone to go shopping with me as I'm clueless. I had a personal shopper session once but it was a bit of a disaster. She didn't really listen to what my life was like (and this was when I was working even) and brought out far too expensive pure silk dry clean only tops, which wasn't practical with an 8 month old!

littlecupcake · 05/09/2014 20:36

Thanks all for your advice on the burgundy trousers, I've kept them and bought them in a slate grey colour too.

Opinions please on this dress - is it okay for a champagne afternoon tea in December followed by drinks in town? It's been so long since I've been to any kind of 'do'! Could I also wear it to the theatre to see Strictly style dance show? Trying to get organised so I don't have a last minute panic in the Christmas rush with a couple of kiddies in tow!

They also do it in navy, but I thought the plum looked a bit more special and I already have black accessories to go with it (skint, so need to use what I've got wherever possible).

I'm not used to wearing stuff above the knee - am I too old for this? I'm 36. Thanks!

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2014 20:36

I thought Donna Ida but apparently there's someone else too? I'd ask my friend but she's on a plane!

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2014 20:39

I think the dress is very suitable and you're definitely not too old to wear something above the knee she says desperately, having worn a Reiss mini dress the other week at the age of 44

MissScatterbrain · 05/09/2014 20:49

The pink boden breton looks wintry enough - I am a fan of their bretons and have the SS14 ivory with navy stripe and the ivory is v. pale/cool and the dark navy helps so think it would be the same for the pink one.

The blue dress is lovely - you need to get it to see how wintry it is as I have a feeling it might be more of a spring blue?

Not a fan of White STuff - their quality is shocking nad colours are too muted. Fatface is a bit better but still mostly muted colours.
