Help! Hair too blonde

MargeryAllingham · 02/08/2014 08:17

Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice. Decided I wanted to go from dyed dark brown (washed out) to blonde. Had a consultation before I did this, but turns out the actual dying was done by a different hairdresser who I obviously didn't communicate well with. Wanted mainly medium/dark ash blonde, but have come away with super blonde (plus gingery ends from previous hair colour).
I'm phoning the salon when they open, but wondering if it can be darkened to medium/dark ash blonde fairly easily? Or are the salon going to day no?
So unhappy with myself - me and hairdressers never seem to get it right Confused

I'm sure this is salvageable. Daughter is a hairdresser and she's used to putting colours right for people. Could you have the base colour cooled and some low lights put through it? Your hairdresser should easily be able to do this for you.

Thanks already, I'm hoping so! I look bloody stupid as it is (more so than usual)!

Just to update, appointment booked for Tuesday AM, but hair seems to be getting more and more orange! Is there anything I can do in the meantime to minimise the orange or is it a case of sucking it up? So pissed off with myself.

I'm in no way a hair expert but you could try a purple toner shampoo? Lee Stafford Hot Shots works wonders on removing brassy tones from my hair. Turns it a lovely ashy blonde.

ImaMonet · 02/08/2014 15:30

The toner obvs won't make it darker but may make it less orange till you get it sorted on tues.

Yes a purple toner should help.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I live in the middle of nowhere but have been to local chemists and managed to get Provoke Touch of Silver brightening shampoo, daily maintenance shampoo and the conditioner. They're definitely purple, so I'm hopeful - fingers crossed they minimise the orange mess!

They can put a toner on it. I've had that done when we (my hairdresser and I) got overexcited and I ended up too blonde.

Just to update, hair is now AMAZING. Totally love it now, hairdresser foiled again and then added a light brown. No longer look appalling and hair is lovely and healthy looking medium ash blonde. Phew! Grin

Well done, glad it got sorted!

That's good, glad you are pleased

I woudl still use the purple shampoo etc, about once a week. Low lights have a tendency to go " warm " and highlights go yellow
