Bra sizing - help please for first bra

Hi there.

DD is measuring 27 under and 31.5 over. She is wearing crop tops, but I think a bra is needed. She does not want to be measured in a store, and has only just come round to the idea that she could get one (so don't want to put her off).

What sizes should she try on? And where would you recommend looking? I am reckoning they will need to be replaced reasonably quickly as she grows.

I was left in too small and ill-fitting bra for a couple of years at least, with resulting stunted boobs, so I want to get this right.

I would imagine 28c and 28d would be sizes to start with but not sure if you wouldn't find them on the high street.

Actually it looks like M&S do first bras (Angel range) in those sizes. Just don't get her measured there!

John Lewis do a few 28C as well - just put "28C" in the search box on their website, they have it set up properly! I'd agree, a 28C or D would be about right.

Thank you so much. That is really helpful.

I need help too - dd measures 25 under and 29 over - she's about to start high school so think a bra would be better than crop tops - but no idea what size to get! I did try her with a 28 AA but the band was much too tight. Should I stick to old sizing and go for a 30 AA or try a 28 with a larger cup size?

HazleNutt · 07/08/2014 10:33

she would need about 26C or D. 28 band was too tight because the AA cup is too small.

haggisaggis · 07/08/2014 12:36

Is it possible to get a 26 though? Do I buy a 28 B or C instead?

HazleNutt · 07/08/2014 12:39

26C is rare as unicorn tears, but you can find some 26Ds, mostly online though - try figleaves and ebay for example. And yes, you can try both 28B and C - many slim women feel more comfortable in bigger bands than they measure.

Well I got her both 28 B and C from M&S and they're useless - back barely does up it's so tight. Think for first bras I'll stick to 30 AA until she grows a bit then try again.
