I'm looking for new leggings to get me through the winter - I'll worry about the tops/dresses later on. I want nice thick ones, which will wash and wear well. I'm 5'4" and about a size 18. The options I have available are M&S, Next or H&M. Suggestions please? Many thanks in advance.

I'm wearing a pair of structured ones from Tesco, today!

They were a fiver in the sale and have a wide, high waistband and give a lovely shape.

I'll see if there are any for A/W that are similar.

I can't find any similar to mine but these are nice for winter

The best ones I've had are the m&s ones which are heavy and non see through -they have a wider waistband -they are quite cheap -I think £9.99? You can get them in different lengths but in my experience best to buy online and collect in store as their size availability in store is shocking.

Biden leggings are the best I have ever bought.
They cost more but wash well and keep their shape.
I buy them when I get sent vouchers occasionally from Boden.
I'm shorter than you op and they fit fine.

Next are my favourite although they have changed them a bit. I buy their tummy control. They are great, make your legs look slim and keep your tummy in!!! I will post a link:

I am a 12 but always buy the 12-14. They stretch after you wear them. I preferred the lower ones but annoyingly they dont do them anymore.

thank you all for your help. I think I would prefer matte, and high-waisted is good. more comfortable and less bumps and lumps! Grin

M&S and H&M has the good quality of leggings, I always use leggings during winter to protect my skin from cold and dryness. I used legging underneath my dress or skirt. You can never go wrong with black leggings too; it can be paired on any color dress.

Seconding Boden, they're brilliant. As the previous poster said, they wash well, keep their shape/colour, really comfy. Gap do reasonably good ones as well. The only H&M pair I had lost their stretch in about five seconds and kept falling down.

Sainsburys, the modal ones (about £12). Good length, not see through, and nice and supportive high waist!

Wallis have high waisted ones which cover a multitude of sins. I
