Anyone ever gone from low-maintenance to high?

I am a 40+ mum of a young child who is about to start school. I am overweight (Only a stone), unfit and unpolished.

I am going on holiday early next year and working on the weight so that I feel more comfortable in my swimsuit/bikini.

I have always been very low-maintenance but was thinking of giving a manicure a go, doing something with my hair etc. I would never go as far as a spray tan or botox but wondering what simple and cheap things I could have done to me to make myself more polished?

A good haircut. See the senior stylist and ask them their opinion on what would suit you, change it up, have it coloured, but a decent hairdo makes me feel fab even if the rest of me might be a bit shabby!

Have your eyebrows waxed/threaded.
Get your teeth cleaned at the dentist.

A stone isn't much to lose, low carbing or the 5:2 diet would lose that pretty quickly.

The 30 shred is great, you see the results quickly and that's enough incentive to keep going.

A neutral nail Polish is easy to do yourself and you don't notice chips so easily!

Eyebrows tidied - I get mine threaded

Nails painted - I like bright colours on my toes my something neutral on my fingers as I chip them easily.

Clothes - need to be a good fit and I regularly get rid of anything tatty or misshaped.

Hair - a good haircut can do wonders.

Make up - I were light make up eg tinted moisturiser, light blusher and lip gloss.
