Greek holiday packing tips!

Do you clever S&B-ers think I can do a week on the Greek coast with 6kg carry on bag only? I am reasonably low maintenance but do like my hair straighteners and a touch of makeup and something nice to wear in the evening.

Also, any recommendations for the carry on bag?

Please share your travel packing tips!

Thanks for advice on rash vests. I'm not much of a sunbather and struggle with sun lotion reactions. I'll check them out.

I only ever do carry on luggage I don't do make up or heels on holiday and take a few light weight kaftan type things flip flops and thats it. Shorts and maybe 2 loose tops. 1 or 2 bikinis.

Watching with interest-two weeks in Crete coming up, (but jet 2 so shit loads of space) but I'm a crap packer. I have got three pairs of clown harem pants which I love on hols. I got a cracking short kaftanny thing in h&m last year, nice enough for a dress, but very light and cheap
Korres-is it commonly available and cheaper than here?

I do watersports on holiday in Greece and everyone wears rash vests -men, women and kids. They stop the harness /buoyancy aid from rubbing against your skin . You don't wear them just walking about the beach or by the pool

OP -you mentioned a merino t shirt -I'm assuming that's a typo . It's far too hot . Ditto tight fitting trousers .

4 prs knickers and 1 bra enough if you wash and wear . I wear a bikini and a sundress /cover up all day

Take sun protection spray for your hair , tie in a pony tail if you can , wear a hat. Especially important if your hair is coloured - the sun /chlorine /salt water will wreck it

No, merino isn't a typo. Sorry to contradict but fine, very lightweight merino isn't hot at all. I wear it for hiking and road cycling in very hot conditions and it's great. It insulates against heat and cold and doesn't get sweaty and clammy. It's also fab for travel as it doesn't crease and lasts several wears without getting smelly.

Am interested in the Korres stuff but wont be able to stock up due to carry on liquids rules. Thanks for the hair care tips, my hair is coloured so the spray/hat/pony advice is useful.

I'm going to buy that Cabin max bag now - thank you whoever recommended it - looks good.

We go to a village well off the beaten track for tourists usually .. all the supermarkets sell the same toiletries and sun creams as here. so dont bother buying them here to take except id say if you have afavourite shampoo /conditonerthen take it in a 100ml n bottle.

A sarong is essential you can use it as beach cover up and towel if needs be. a travel towel (from Millets or the like) wil pack up into a tiny ball and dies instantly almost

Support the local economy -lord knows they they need it .. dont bother with hat or basic flip flops or beach bag .. all Greek places sell flipflops and sunhats (nice ones too - and greek leather sandals usually particularly good) ..A lightweight cotton shirt or kaftan also is good

Pack a toothbrush, flanne,l roll on deoderant and travel toothpaste. ( i took a travel toothpaste size and it lasted me 2 weeks!) if you need mossie stuff buy it there.. ( Fenistil cream is the best ever.. get it at the pharmacy i always bring some back) or poundland sell a good roll on one (for a quid!)

yes getting your eyelashes dyed is good.. I do

Buy a beach towel there and leave it when you come back

Take a kindle if you like to read

I would take sunglasses from here.. you could get then airside .

4 knicks are plenty wash them in shower gel (that you buy there)

I take a couple of maxi skirts because mossies love me and they can dress up or down.. wear one on the plane ..
