Brown Legs Anyone?

readrunraverelax · 28/07/2014 13:00

Please could any fab tanners advise on how to obtain brown legs? My legs are just always so frustratingly slow at colouring?

Thanks.

Would buying a factor 10 or lower oil be a good idea?!

A bit of fake tan?

readrunraverelax · 28/07/2014 13:29

greengarden thanks, there is that! I am unfortunately very incompetent at applying fake tan! Do you have bronzed legs?

Garnier summer body moisturising lotion is great for making your legs look brown

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/07/2014 15:05

Have just bought Dove Summer Glow in the light shade and am v pleasantly surprised. Much nicer than the Garnier one, for me.

Thanks, ladies!

Another vote for Garnier Summer Body.
The Dove stuff smells weird to me.
Make sure you get the darker one.
Make sure you rub it in really well.
Put it on every other day for a week or so and you'll see a massive difference.

cartoontrickster · 28/07/2014 16:22

hmmm I agree these moisturisers are good but I don't find they work so well on my legs for some reason not sure what I'm doing wrong. but rodial fake tan is really good I just mixed it with some normal moisturiser, really nice colour and wasn't patchy.

RiojaHaze · 28/07/2014 20:02

Fake tan never takes very well on my legs for some reason too.

If I have a spray tan I get the tanner to go over them twice, likewise if I do if myself.

daimbardiva · 28/07/2014 21:08

exfoliate well and Garnier summer body every second day for me. This is the first year I've got my legs out regularly for ages and it's great! They are still not what you'd call tanned, but they are not white, and they don't look out of place next to the rest of me!

Cluelesslulu · 28/07/2014 22:15

The Dove one is the only one that works well for me. (Does smell funny like a previous poster said), but easy to apply and doesn't seem to streak.
I use the dark one as it works quicker, even though I'm very fair skinned. The smell does go after a shower.

prisonerofallisurvey · 29/07/2014 16:59

Another vote for Dove - I use the lighter one and over a week it has brought a nice pale tan to my pasty pins. I am tempted to buy the darker one next time as my arms and shoulders are darker from a natural tan though!

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 17:31

Well i have been using garnier summerbody and no matter how well i try i still get the noticeable fake tan look on my knees. Its so annoying. I exfoliate, moisturise and still it is darker there. Does the dove do that?

bigTillyMint · 29/07/2014 18:17

I just go tight-less at the first sight of sun!

SlicedAndDiced · 29/07/2014 18:21

Stay nice and pasty white.

A tan is just ugly skin damage anyway. Grin

Catsmamma · 29/07/2014 18:23

you have to start early in the year...exfoliate and moisturise every single time you shower otherwise leg skin just reflects the light like tin foil ime!!

specialsubject · 29/07/2014 18:26

no, buying a factor 10 or cooking oil and trying to burn would not be a good idea. :-)

TalkinPeace · 29/07/2014 18:29

swim outdoors year round Wink

thenightsky · 29/07/2014 18:30

St Tropez is the only fake tan that looks natural on me.

MissBeehiving · 29/07/2014 20:10

Sally Hansen tan glow looks very natural

Somanyillustrations · 29/07/2014 20:12

Sally Hanson airbrush legs applied with a tanning mitt. You can see where you're putting it, and it washes off with soap if it's streaky!

readrunraverelax · 29/07/2014 21:21

Sally Hansen sounds interesting!

I am actually quite keen on being pale and interesting most of the year round, and do not bother faking it for nights out in winter, or whatever, but just feel unbalanced that my chest/back/arms are brown and my poor pins do not turn colour.

Thanks all for top tips!

I use Garnier Natural Bronzer Self-Tanning Spray. Have done for years. I just exfoliate daily in the shower, and use this every third day or so in summer, before bed. Works a treat and must look quite natural, as everyone compliments me on my tan (which I don't have, as I use lashings of SPF50+!)
