Stains caused by sweat- info please......

DH and I are having a 'discussion' about the yellow stains on his shirts. He thinks they are caused by his current anti perspirant and has started a hunt for one that is 'no stains' and also unperfumed- and this seems impossible to find one that offers both.

I, on the other hand, think that the yellow underarm stains are caused by sweat because years back I read tips about removing sweat stains on clothes - that had no connection with the type of deodorant used.

The other point is that the ones marketed as 'no stains/ no white marks'- are (IMO) talking about the white residue that marks dark coloured clothes under the arms, not about yellow stains.

Anyone shed some light on this for us? He has quite sensitive skin so is looking for an unperfumed anti perspirant.

there are deodorants that claim anti yellowing too but dont know if they have it in unperfumed

has he tried mitcham unscented?
the yellowing is old sweat as far as i know as DH gets it around his collar, nothing to do with deodorant but if he uses a better deodorant then will kill two birds anyway (ie no sweat, no stains).

we looked at mitchum yesterday as an option. I may buy :)
He always uses an aerosol but I never do because I'd read ages ago that sprays aren't the best but roll on or stick is better.

I think he's using that L'oreal one now but it's very pongy - perfume not great and lingers....

i personally dont find aerosols very effective.

I find that Right Guard is the worst for leaving yellow stains on shirts. Sure/Nivea/Dove are not to bad.

if the stains are deodorant
they look yellow on white fabric and white on darker fabric

and they are easily removed - (if they havn't built up too much) by spritzing with white vinegar a few minutes before throwing in the wash

Try soaking with aspirin and warm water to remove the stains.

I found that a paste of that Vanish powder (in the pink tub) rubbed on to the stained part removed it.

I agree with you that it is sweat rather than antiperspirant because my husband has it worse on one side and I have watched him apply deodorant - one side (the more heavily stained) gets fewer swipes than the other!
