Manicure virgin

Want to go for a proper manicure and possibly acrylic nails. Have never had this before as cannot wear any kind of false nail or even clear varnish at work.

I'm signed off sick until September, following surgery so now is the time to do it. I'm looking at leaflets and I haven't a clue what to ask for.

Is it worth getting a full set off acrylics for a month or should I be looking at something like Shellac? What's an infill or an overlay? Confused

I wouldn't get acrylics, they destroyed my nails when I had them taken off because they were so weak and peeling. I now have biogels with infills every 3 wks, after 2 lots of infills I have a soak off. I'm not sure how my nails would be without them as I've had them done for over 4 years. I did try shellac, the salon I go to now do both and I was offered a free trial, but they started to peel after about 10 days and I had a couple of breaks, I can't even blame the person doing them as it was the girl who always does my nails and I can get 4+ wks out of a set of her gels if she's on holiday.

I only need these for 4 weeks as hopefully I'll be back at work and clean-nailed again.
