First pedicure a disaster.

So I posted a few days ago about pedicures ( never had one before) and today decided to the the plunge.
Went to the Chinese place that many school mums go to, as they could fit me in there and then.
So had the soak ( very long), some prodding of the nail bed which made the side bleed a bit and dead skin removal. Picked a nice brown shade. Sent to a dryer and sat for half an hour. When the lady took out the separators the colour was all smudged. So they ushered me to a seat and discovered none were dry and all were smudged. So they took it all off.
At this point I had been in there nearly 2 hours and needed to move the car to avoid a ticket.
I am so disappointed I have clean feet with brown badly removed polish on the toes. My first reaction was to leave and not go back ( hadn't paid). However I phoned and said I would go back in tomorrow. The lady on the phone yes I must because I hadn't paid! So what would you expect or advise?

Don't go back and go somewhere else. Why would you go back somewhere that has made you bleed and can't dry nail polish in 30 minutes?

The lady I go to is £15 for a massage, foot scrub, rough skin removal, cuticle work and then the file and paint. She's actually cheaper and better than the big nail salon run by Asian staff in the shopping precinct.

tak1ngchances · 25/07/2014 18:35

That sounds really shit. Where in the country are you?

revealall · 25/07/2014 18:37

It's a small town and I know they would recognise me if I didn't go back and pay for something.
I don't know how to argue with an angry Chinese lady - should I not try and get them to fix it? I also want nice painted nails and my friends all look fab but I might just being a bit wet.

Hampshire. I know there are cheaper places nearer the coast and there are a few (2) more expensive options in town.
Just disappointed really.

I would phone them and say I haven't paid because I do not have a pedicure.
Then book somewhere else...

WildBillfemale · 25/07/2014 19:31

I would complain at the salon either in erson or on the phone - DO NOT PAY - they made you bleed! and your toes are not painted/

Bodicea · 26/07/2014 08:21

Oh my goodness no way would I pay or go back and that was ridiculously rude of her to say that. I would be asking for compensation for my time and the pain they caused.

WildBillfemale · 26/07/2014 13:25

Anywhere in SO15? I know somewhere brilliant for £18

storeonashelf · 26/07/2014 13:35

That sounds terrible. Try somewhere else. I've never had a pedicure like that.

BlueberriesAndWine · 26/07/2014 14:52

You definitely shouldn't be bleeding after a pedicure!

I'd ring them and tell them I wasn't going to pay, then book somewhere else.

JessieMcJessie · 26/07/2014 17:14

Are you sure they're Chinese? Nail salons tend to be Vietnamese. You definitely had a shit pedicure though, wherever they're from. Suggest you go back in, explain politely that it was not acceptable and you won't be paying or coming back. No court in the land would say you should. Then go somewhere nice and get your nails done a nice deep red or orange for summer- brown is far too boring!

TollgateDebs · 26/07/2014 21:56

I am a qualified Beauty Therapist and nothing done to your feet should make them bleed! Too many of these salons have unqualified or untrained staff. I would be concerned about cross contamination, infection and the fact the work is of a poor standard. Did you see their qualifications and insurance displayed? Also price has nothing to do with quality.

bigTillyMint · 26/07/2014 22:00

That sounds totally rubbish. I wouldn't go back - they did a crap job, so what if they recognise you?

handcream · 26/07/2014 22:07

I have a genuine question. Why are the vast majority of nail bars run by people from Vietnam? Most seem unqualified and complete rubbish, surely they cannot just turn up in the UK and start doing manicures?

JessieMcJessie · 27/07/2014 10:03

Read this handcream which explains why they are all vietnamese, and if you google Vietnamese nail salons UK you'll find plenty of articles about alleged human trafficking of illegal immigrants into the UK and them being forced to work in nail bars.

WildBillfemale · 27/07/2014 10:09

Got to add I was shocked to read 'Brown colour' on toes.....

It's summer go for a nice bright colour, red/coral/pink/orange or even purple, blue,

Brown is the colour of poo.

handcream · 27/07/2014 18:37

So who is investigating this?
