Embarrassing sun spot aka tashe!

Tiredgal12 · 24/07/2014 22:39

Evening all, I'm hoping someone can save me further embarrassment.

Out of no where sun spots have appeared on my upper lip which make me (helpfully??) look like I have a moustache.

I've upped the spf ante -30 daily now but it won't fade.

Please can someone very kindly share any useful tips? Thanks!

Vit C serum, retinol may help. There are lots of products claiming to be skin brightening, usually with kojic acid in. I'm using Medik8 White Balance - think it's working but not totally sure.

If you are really serious then laser or Obagi.

obagi you say .. sounds funny I'll have to Google that!

I had sunspots / patches on my upper cheeks under my eyes which I considered getting lasered. then I came of the pill and they disappeared!

a bit of googling shows you're more likely to get them if pregnant or on homonal BC!

It's melasma. I tried obagi for mine, it was 6months of peeling hell without much result. Am one session into a course of laser treatments now. Fingers crossed it works.

Also if you don't want to fork over for Obagi, Paula's Choice make a lightening serum containing hydroquinone. I would steer clear of kojic acid as it's known for being unstable.

Yes are you pregnant or on the pill? if so, they will clear up once not.

I had this when pregnant and it made me very self conscious, you have my sympathies. I've heard lemon juice is as effective as anything OTC.

Hi all, thanks for taking the time to respond.

After googling, I wonder whether the laser hair removal I'm currently undergoing has caused this or the fact that I came off the pill c3 month ago?

Really think I need to get to the drs to find out, but wonder if anyone else has had this following laser hr?

I got it when pregnant with DD2, she's 2 and a half now, I use SPF30 (SPF 50 at the moment) and it's never gone. It fades quite a bit in winter and when using some products but has darkened a lot as I'm 26 weeks pregnant.
